“We are all totally passionate about the music we create, so I suppose that is what makes us who we are.” - Abercion

.Abercion. These Birmingham lads have climbed the ‘‘wall of success’ but what will 2011 bring?

O

ur local band right here from Birmingham have made such a success in 2010, and here we get to go behind the scenes and hear from the lads themselves! After their incredible gig at Birmingham 02 Academy last night, we went back stage and got hold of the guitarist, Matt Morgan. We asked him several questions as to whether they will expand besides Birmingham; they’ll bring out a new album and their hopes for the band this year. 2010 was a great success for Abercion, but what will 2011 bring?

1) “We have a feeling that 2011 is going to be a pretty good year for us, we’re currently working on some new material for us to tour with in the summer and see how it goes down with our fan-base. We are looking to extend the fan-base as well with the new material; we just need to play to the right people.”

4)“Download festival has always been an ambition for us, so to play there would be like a dream come true, hanging out with other bands that we idolise would be pretty trippy and is something that I personally would love. Touring America would be pretty cool as well; we heard that American girls love British accents.”

2) “Last year we released our debut mini album ‘Rise’ as a trial, overall it has gone down pretty well with people and allowed us to progress being as we actually had something to sell at gigs so that people could go away and listen to us and not forget us! As I said earlier, we are currently writing new material and we will pick and choose our 3 best tracks for our E.P that we will release this year, expect it to be free to download around summer time.”

5) “Live in the here and now - It means something along the lines of; ‘Do things that mean something personal to you and what it means to you at the time’. Every one of us in the band has our own personal meanings behind each song we write, we are all totally passionate about the music we create so I suppose that is what makes us who we are.”

3) “Yes, we are always looking to expand, we can’t really be playing in Birmingham all our lives so every opportunity we can get we head out to gigs here there and everywhere. Transport is always annoying but it’s all part of ‘being in a band’ I suppose, without intending to sound Cliché there.”
