LEIBMANS HOUSTON, TX NORTON CREATIVE

MAIN DINING

ORDER COUNTER, BAKERY, COFFEE

Located in West Houston for the last 39 years, Leibman’s, has become a neighbourhood staple for gourmet food and wine. Since its beginning, Leibmans has seen a few location and concept transitions though the years. Norton was brought onto the project after the daughter of the original owners showed interest in overhauling the family business to make it feel more like her own. Her vision, along with our guidance, came to life as a restaurant, deli, market combination. The overall design concept was guided by the Liebman’s family roots in South Africa. The blend of natural textures, a rich color palette and modernized fixtures. Leibman’s soon became a neighbourhood restaurant that not only drew in old customers but welcomed new guests as well.

STATOIL HOUSTON, TX IA INTERIOR ARCHITECTS

SECONDARY LOBBY STATOIL RENDERINGS DONE OUT OF HOUSE

Statoil is headquartered in Norway, a country that is rooted in design. Naturally, they were a client that was open to taking risks with design and knew exactly what

they liked. Originally slatted to take over 12 floors with 246,000 square feet for their new Houston campus, their main goal was to consolidate their employees with an integrated workplace strategy, design and change management. Creating moderately open floor plans LOUNGE AREAS

with plenty of alternate meeting rooms was key to making this new campus a success. The combination of the modern Scandinavian design and Statoil’s carefully constructed global design standards, this campus project turned out to be a stunning and functional space for Statoil’s employees.

Serene Wax Boutique, while a very small project, had many opportunities to use all of the pink finishes that every interior designer thinks there will never be a project for. This owner was looking for a space that gave their client a sense of glamour and comfort. Without giving her the standard crystal chandeliers and large tufted couches, we focused on creating a more sophisticated “glamour. We designed intimate spaces with dropped ceilings and rich textures emphasized with unique light fixtures throughout.

Salesforce was an account that IA Interior Architects was called in to implement new standards on a global scale. To be a part of a project so large was a learning experience not only by observing the SOCIAL LOUNGE- KITCHEN management and coordination across seas, but ELEVATIONS- FINISH SPECIFICATIONS also the coordination of the design documents with multiple people working on the file simultaneously. This project was where I first began experimenting with rendering and have now used that skill throughout all my projects.

FLOORING PLAN

With the goal to transform the executive floor into a space that was more inviting for all employees to come up and use, Mckesson decided to go for a more open floor plan and add strategically placed color throughout. Knowing that the company was going through some growth FINISH PLAN | OPTION B DESIGN DEVELOPMENT | FLOOR and changes, it was important for them to keep a floor plan that wasn’t dictated by permanent walls and flooring that only matched certain layouts. A key element in the design was the color blocking of the carpet that was used as way finding around the entire floor. This concept not only brought much needed color to the space, but allowed for the majority of the carpet to stay one neutral color so the workstations weren’t tied down to a specific floor pattern. McKesson Macro Helix was a project that was focused on combining and consolidating two newly merged companies. The challenge for this project was creating two successful floor plans that combined the many different departments, all of which had mandatory adjacencies for functionality purposes. Like any puzzle, I took it one section at a time without losing site of the end goal. By the end of the process, Mckesson was left with two very efficient spaces to start their new venture. This well-established quick service restaurant was in need of an overall brand refresh. We immediately incorporated a new look and feel to shift the way that consumers see this urban bakery cafĂŠ concept. Introducing a new prototype, simplifying messaging and implementing a new clean design has helped reinforce the belief that Au Bon Pain is a gourmet convenience where people live and work. We achieved this more modern and simplistic design by combining a variety of natural finishes, geometric shapes, and strategic pops of color. This created an innovative and recognizable look that has helped to set the brand apart from its highly saturated competitive set.

CUSTOM WALLCOVERING

The design request for this wallcovering was to create a pattern that was not only aesthetically pleasing, but also brought in a “Houston element. Maps have always interested me and I thought of know better way to than to create an abstract pattern by mirroring the map of Houston. I love the surprise and enjoyment when people get close enough to the wallcovering to notice that it is in fact their home town.

PAINTED, WOOD PAINTED, CABINET WOOD CABINET AND DRAWERS AND DRAWERS

When disaster struck Houston with Hurricane Harvey coming full speed, those that were not directly hit where looking for ways to help the community. My way of helping out was to offer my services to the areas that got hit hardest. The drawings here are those of nine houses I was involve++=d in restoring or rebuilding. Not only was this a way for me to get experience in residential design, but also felt good to know that my learned skills could come in handy at such a dire time.

FIGURE DRAWINGS

Figure drawing is something I have been doing since high school. Drawing class helps me clear my head. No matter what stress I have, I am able to focus in on the figure in front of me and challenge myself to try different styles within certain time frames. The part I enjoy most is watching myself improve as I go more often. Not only is this a hobby of mine, but I believe it helps me in sketching my ideas for my interiors work.

PERSONAL AESTHETIC

I see the importance in being able to convey what ones personal interior’s aesthetic is. While work projects can sometimes be dictated by the client and budget, I thought it important to show what my ideal designs would be inspired by. The images to the left are ones that I am naturally drawn towards. They depict a variety of textures, simple lines, repeat patterns, and a whole lot of symmetry. I am constantly seeking new inspiration as my personal aesthetic is every growing. In addition, I have added a few images of my home. My home is the ultimate challenge. Budget, using items that have been passed down to me, collecting pieces over time, and space allowance are all components that I have to keep in mind when creating my personal space. While always a work in progress and far from my “dream home, I believe I have created a space that is comfortable and reflects who I am at this time in my life.
