tai o build “Together, we built our team spirit and homes for the needy with great pride and fun” Wendy Tsang, QBE MI Asia
QBE Lender’s Mortgage Insurance Team Build As a Gold Sponsor of Habitat for Humanity’s Tai O Restoration Project, we were very excited to visit the historic fishing village and help refurbish stilt homes for the elderly residents. We found the build more challenging than expected because most of the team had never experienced this type of work before. However, it was a great day and we learned some new skills such as painting, sawing wood, screwing, drilling, mixing of sand/small rocks/ lime etc. Most of the work took place underneath the stilt houses with very poor conditions; there was a lot of water and waste materials. It was first time most of us had participated in a Habitat for Humanity team build and we all agree it was a very good and rewarding experience. It was certainly very different from working in the office! Most of the actions couldn’t be completed by an individual; we had to share and work as a team. During the process, we increased our team spirit and relationship (both QBE MI Asia & QBE HKSI). We were all very happy to be involved and to give a handup to some of the elderly villagers at Tai O.
