Patrick Place Update We would like to thank you and the donors who have supported the success of our 5th annual Evening for Patrick Place!  As many of you know, the Gala is our largest fundraising event held each year in March. All proceeds from this event benefit the mission of Patrick Place. Our year in review: 2013, was another successful year for us! We reached our fundraising goal, which has allowed us to pursue our construction/renovation plans. Our goal the next quarter will be to finalize construction plans, secure a contractor and begin work on building Patrick Place. We will continue to increase our community visibility and work with community partners to ensure our sustainability.  Monies continue to be raised through our fundraising events, community sponsored events, and grants.  We have continued to see an increase in memorial donations and are truly thankful to all those who have made donations in memory of, or in honor, of those they love. We would also like to thank those individuals and community groups who hosted events this past year and donated their proceeds to Patrick Place. The Board would like to thank our countless volunteers and those that work behind the scenes to support our success, we are forever grateful for your work! Please visit our website www. patrickplace.org for updates throughout the coming months. Please contact the Board of Directors if you have any questions or if you would like to support our goal of building Patrick Place.  We extend our sincere thank you for your continued support. A Comfort Care Home Patrick Place Mission Statement:  Patrick Place - A comfort care home, provides love and support for the terminally ill in a homelike setting. Patrick Place allows them to live out their lives with the freedom to spend time with their loved ones: to talk, share and grieve. The 5th Annual Evening for Patrick Place - March 8, 2014 Dedicated to Charlotte Bruney This evening is dedicated in honor of Charlotte Bruney and her work for Patrick Place. Charlotte served on the original committee to explore opportunities to open a comfort care home in Scottsville and was instrumental in the laying the foundation for the establishment of a comfort-care facility for the terminally ill. As many of you know, Charlotte continued her ministry of unselfishly giving to others, despite her own struggle with cancer.   In a reflection on Patrick Place, Charlotte wrote: “From its inception, Patrick Place has held on to a corner of my heart. Having walked with families through the final weeks and days of a loved one’s life, I have seen firsthand the value of a comfort care home setting. There, family and friends can enjoy time together in a homey environment with someone whose time on earth is coming to an end without worrying or fussing with the details of care-taking…… I am thrilled that this dream is about to become a reality!”   We Remember Her… At the rising of the sun and at its going down At the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn At the beginning of the year and when it ends As long as we live, Charlotte, too, will live, for she is now a part of us. For all the good she has done For the wisdom she has imparted For the faith and hope she has shared For the stories she told For the love she poured out As long as we live, she, too, will live, for she is now a part of us. She has shared the last months of her life with all of us. She has shared the sad faces of suffering, the happy places of hope and the giving graces of thanks for every breath God gave her.* Thank you Charlotte!
