Spring Programme 15/1/18 - 23/3/18

Working in partnership with:

Welcome

... to our Spring Term Programme

The programme runs from Monday 15th January to Friday 23rd March. Many of our groups are term time only, so please check with session leaders whether activities will run over the half term holiday. Within this programme you will find details of courses and workshops for parents, followed by an ante-natal section and a ‘Groups for All’ section, with daily activities for all pre-school children and their families or carers. These are open to everyone and we are always pleased to see dads and grandads. We can recommend all our groups for children with additional needs. Most of our groups are free; where there is a cost this is indicated in the programme. There is also an ‘Out & About’ section, showing groups that are run by other providers in the Borough. At the end of the programme you will find information about our specialist services, which are by referral only. If you would like to be referred, please speak to your Midwife or Health Visitor - or contact a member of our team. For the latest news and updates on what is happening in our Children’s Centres visit our website: www.priorycentre.co.uk and make sure you follow us on Facebook. Family Support

One to One Family Support Sometimes, things with your child might not be what you expected or they may not work out the way you hoped. Support and advice can be offered by a Family Support Worker on a one-to-one basis in your family home, to help with all kinds of issues relating to child development and family life. If you would like to arrange one-to-one support, please call us on 01493 660090 or speak with your Health Visitor.

Family Information Support Sessions Sometimes families need help to identify ‘next steps’ when they have an emerging family related worry. This could be around children’s behaviour, parental wellbeing, housing needs and finance etc. We can offer a support session, to provide information, signposting or advice to help you move forward.

1

We can also offer free advice and guidance sessions to help you identify the best pathways to fulfil your aspirations for the future. To register your interest in any of our courses or learning opportunities contact John McDonald: T: 01493 743023.

It offers a wide range of opportunities to develop new skills, gain new confidence, adapt to life changes and achieve recognised qualifications.

This is a really useful one day workshop leading to the ‘Emergency First Aid Appointed Person at Work’ certificate. Learn the ABC of emergency response, how to administer CPR, what to do if someone is choking and how to treat open wounds, fractures and burns.

Baby & Child First Aid Contact: 01493 743023 A half day workshop for new parents or young families. The workshop covers recovery position for children and babies, resuscitation, recognising meningitis and other medical conditions.

Specialist Services

Welcome to PIMHS Contact: 01493 743004 The Parent Infant Mental Health Support (PIMHS) team is based at the Priory and offers support to parents who would like to build a strong relationship with their children, but may be struggling with low mood, anxiety or depression. Children love to socialise, but it is often difficult to join busy Children’s Centre groups. The PIMHS Team offers a variety of ways to help parents to develop a strong bond with their baby, which is essential for a baby’s emotional wellbeing. Being in tune with your child’s needs creates a safe and secure world for them to explore and grow. If you feel you could benefit from one of the services offered by the PIMHS Team please speak with your Midwife or Health Visitor, who can make a referral for you.

PIMHS One to One Support Contact: 01493 743066 Sometimes it can be hard to join a new group. We can give you oneto-one support on your own or with your baby - at home or in the Children’s Centre. If you would like to arrange an appointment please ask your Health Visitor to refer you. If you would like to speak to a member of the team call us at the number above.
