TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exerc

Chaplin: Fr. Greg Shaffer (chaplain@gwcatholic.com) Campus Minister: Amy West (amy@gwcatholic.com) THIS WEEK AT THE NEWMAN CENTER: Tuesday discussion: Witness to Courage Tuesday’s discussion will be an extraordinary opportunity to understand same-sex attraction and the Church’s teaching via a guest speaker. GW Catholics are invited to hear a powerful and inspiring testimonial from a Catholic man who was active in same-sex relationships, and is now faithfully and courageously trying to live the freedom of chastity with the help of the Church.

2210 F Street, NW Washington, DC 20037

Priests’ baseball game Fr. Greg will be playing for the “DC Padres”, a baseball team of Washington priests and seminarians, on Sun, Oct 16, 3 pm in Germantown, Maryland. For any GW Catholics interested in attending, transportation will be provided; we will leave @ 2 pm and return by 6:30 pm. Email Amy if interested. Mass and reception on Parents’ Weekend All students are encouraged to attend Mass with their parents on Sun, Oct 16, at 11 am at St. Stephen’s. Fr. Greg will celebrate the Mass and there will be a special collection taken up for the Newman Center. Also, a light reception will be offered in the Parish Hall after Mass. Room blessings This has been very popular among GW Catholics. Please email Fr. Greg if you would like him to bless your room and include your campus address and cell phone #. He will call you to set up a time asap. This is open to all GW students! Mass buddy As we encouraged you last year, it is a great thing to get a “Mass buddy” – someone who comes to Sunday Mass with you every week. It is very much a part of the “New Evangelization” of which Pope Benedict has called us all to be a part. Invite someone to Mass! 40 Days for Life The 40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign, a prayerful and peaceful national effort to end abortion in America, will run from September 28th-November 6th. Please contact Chris Crawford at chriscra@gwmail/gwu.edu if you are interested in getting involved or visit www.40daysforlife.com/washington for more information.
