TIM MORRISON
ASST. COACH/OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR 5TH SEASON AT GVSU RECRUITING AREA: West Michigan, Indianapolis
Tim Morrison enters his seventh year coaching the offensive line and his fourth as the Grand Valley State offensive coordinator. Morrison has solidified himself as one of the top offensive minds and offensive line coaches in the country, evidenced by his tutoring 15 All-GLIAC performers in seven years. Morrison guided one of the top offenses in the country in 2015, evidenced by ranking among the national leaders in virtually every category. GVSU averaged 38.4 points, 285.5 yards passing yards, 171.9 rushing yards and 457.5 yards of total offense in 2015. The Laker offense passed for a single-season record 4,283 yards, averaging 15.5 yards per catch and 8.8 yards per pass. Senior OG Jim Walsh garnered All-GLIAC and all-america honrs, while fellow senior, Brandon Revenberg, was an All-GLIAC honoree. The 2014 offensive unit battled injuries to every position group, but still managed 396.0 yards per game. The Lakers’ offensive line, which entered the season with just two starters, proved to be among the best in the GLIAC at the conclusion of the campaign. Jim Walsh and Brandon Revernberg both earned All-GLIAC honors on the offensive line. Morrison guided the Laker offensive line and offensive unit as a whole to an outstanding 2013 campaign. The Lakers averaged 35.0 points and 431.3 yards per game. GVSU used two starting quarterbacks due to injury and that duo combined to throw for 3,671 passing yards and 35 TDs. Three primary running backs also had to be used due to various injuries throughout the season and that group rushed for 2,798 yards and 32 TDs. The Laker offensive line was led by consensus all-american and the Rimington Award winner as the top center in the country in Matt Armstrong. Jim Walsh also earned All-GLIAC honors. The 2012 offense ranked among the leaders nationally and the GVSU offensive line keyed that scoring punch. GVSU ranked sixth nationally in scoring (41.9 ppg), second in the GLIAC and 13th nationally in total yards per game (474.5), while ranking 10th nationally in sacks allowed (0.73). Morrison’s 2011 offensive line led the GLIAC and ranked sixth nationally in sacks allowed (10). The Laker offensive line paved the way for a balanced offensive attack. GVSU led the GLIAC in rushing (226.4), total offense (467.5) and scoring (42.3) in 2011, while ranking fifth in passing (240.9). GVSU ranked sixth nationally in scoring and 10th in total offense. All-GLIAC under Morrison: Morrison’s offensive line in 2010 played a key role in an offense that ranked nationally in several categories, including 14th in rushing offense (216.3), 16th in scoring offense (36.1) and 17th in total offense (437.6). Player Position Year Morrison tutored three All-GLIAC honorees in 2010, including first- Cameron Bradfield OL 2010 team performers Cameron Bradfield and Matt Armstrong. Bradfield signed James Hardy OL 2011 a free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Armstrong is a Ian Evans OL 2011 preseason all-american. In addition, MorMatt Armstrong OL 2010, 12, 13 rison spent the two years (2008-2009) as the offensive coordinator for the Jim Walsh OL 2013, 14, 15 Knights. Wartburg was 66-17 during his time on the staff, including four Brandon Revenberg OL 2014, 15 trips to the NCAA DIII playoffs. The Knights ranked as one of the top offensive units in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and in Division III with Morrison at the helm of the offense. Wartburg used a balanced attack en route to setting several team and individual records, while his offensive lines allowed just 48 quarterback sacks in over 1,600 passing attempts from 2002-2009. Tim spent two years (19992000) coaching the linebackers and special teams at Allegheny College. Morrison earned four letters (1995-1999) and was the starting fullback for three seasons at Wartburg. He was voted team captain as a senior. Morrison earned a B.A. degree in secondary education at Wartburg in 1999 and completed his masters of arts in education degree from Viterbo (Wis.) University in July of 2007. Tim and his wife, Betsy, reside in Grandville with daughter Harper (5).
