GVR Now March 2024

GVR Has a New Website!

On Wednesday, January 31, at the Board of Directors’ meeting, staff launched a new and improved GVR website. Chief Operations Officer Natalie Whitman provided an overview of the website, emphasizing features that were previously unavailable and enhancements that improve site navigation. If you found the old website frustrating, we encourage you to visit www. GVREC.org again and enjoy a fresh experience.

The homepage is now designed for easy access to top priority information with a “bulletin board” and the events calendar front and center. The bulletin board includes high priority messages. Click on any of the three bulletins for details. The events calendar includes governance meetings, performances and movies, club events, lectures, and more. Again, click the listed event for details.

One of the new and practical features is found in the Centers & Reservation section. Members can view room schedules for each center clicking on the center names listed alongside the map. Try toggling on the legend that defines different types of

reservations by color. You may select one or more categories in which to search. This feature is particularly useful when looking for a specific reservation or searching available rooms for drop-in use.

The Info Hub/Pool Availability tab offers two convenient options: Real-Time Info and News. The Real-Time Info allows users to easily see which pools and amenities are currently

Did You Know?

The GVR Board of Directors approved the decision to place security cameras at all the major centers and the Pickleball center. Cameras provide a pivotal opportunity to ensure the safest possible environment for all GVR members, guests, visitors, and staff. Security cameras are not monitored by staff but rather there to record data in case it’s needed to verify harmful situations. Each center will undergo an individual assessment before installation can begin, so watch for workers, ladders, and wire fitting at East, West, Las Campanas, Santa Rita Springs, Desert Hills, Canoa Hills, Canoa Ranch, and the Pickleball center over the next few months.

Letter from the President

The Board is working with staff to evaluate what services will be provided at the new GVR social center, Del Sol Clubhouse. As you may know, the center is closed due to construction that will complete the lower level of the building and bring the parking lot up to code. Hopefully it will be open and be available to members this summer, if all goes well. We are still evaluating the café idea and I don’t have any update yet.

The Fiscal Affairs Committee has been working on year-end financial reports. Our CFO, David Webster, will be working with them to close out 2023 after the auditors have finished their review. We thank the Audit Committee and Fiscal Affairs Committee members for their hard work.

I am sure you have all received your voting materials for the GVR Board of Directors election. If not, please let GVR staff know and they will help you with this. If you have bylaw questions, you can either contact Carol Crothers, Board Affairs Chairperson, or me.

If you have comments or concerns or just want to let us know how things are going at GVR, please send an email to board@gvrec.org. Your emails are sent to all Board members and to the CEO.

I thank all who sit through our meetings, either in person or by zoom, and also those who send us emails with their questions and concerns.

Congratulations to the GVR Glass Artists Club on the new dedicated space at Santa Rita Springs center.

Tired of traditional workouts?

Try dance!

Dancing is a great way to exercise in an enjoyable environment. Dancing combines exercise, entertainment, and collaboration—you’ll forget you’re working out!

And there are classes that don’t need a partner: A Taste of Modern American Square Dancing, Ballroom Dance, Belly Dance for Women, Clogging Beginners, Tap, and Line Dance.
