GUSOM Events Welcome Back BBQ

In August 2016, the Learning Society Advisory Council (LSAC) and Georgetown Student Mentorship Program (GSMP) planned the BBQ for M1s to meet their new mentors within their societies. The M1 students also received their society t-shirts and performed their first check-in for society points.

Students braved the heat to enjoy drinks, food and fellowship amongst their friends. It was great way to start the year!

GUSOM Day of Service In October 2016, each society participated in a service project around the DC area. Students came to campus early to make sandwiches for a few of the organizations, such as My Sister’s Place and Capital Area Food Bank. Harvey and Stewart societies also went to Rock Creek Park to clear out invasive species.

The students ended the day enjoying pizza and beer outside of Bulldog Tavern along the Potomac River. It was a great opportunity for students of various years to meet and give back to the community.

It was a wonderful welcome back after winter vacation!

I, Too, Am Georgetown LSAC, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and GUSOM held the first annual event focused on the theme “empathy in action. Participants were able to reflect on the various aspects that make up their identity through video clips, keynote speakers, and small group discussions.
