Fall Conference 2014

NHHS Energi is an interest group at NHH, which aims to increase the knowledge and interest about the energy sector. The Fall Conference is an annual event with different topics each year. We also arrange the Energy Day during the spring semester.

THE OIL NATION NORWAY During this year’s conference we will discuss a topic that has gotten a lot of media attention lately. The future of Norway’s oil industry is not as bright as it once was. We will see what possibilities and constraints Norway will face in the future, and reveal where we have our future potential. The speakers will discuss this topic from a political, an economical and a climate perspective. We will also hear about Norway’s role in international climate politics. It calls for an important, interesting and educational conference!

OUR SPEAKERS INGER UBBE Inger is an economist at the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (Oljedirektoratet). She also holds a masters degree from NHH, where she wrote her master thesis about Norwegian and Dutch electricity trade.

JARAND RYSTAD Jarand is the founder of and managing partner at Rystad Energy. He holds an M.Sc. degree in Physics from NTNU, where he also worked as a research scientist in industrial economics. He has extensive experience from the oil industry through his long career at McKinsey. In addition he is the founder of and has been the leader of various organizations.

ASBJØRN TORVANGER Asbjørn is a Senior Research Fellow at Cicero. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from UiO as well as degrees in both sociology, environmental science, and economics. One of Asbjørns research interests is climate agreement design, including methods of burden sharing. He has studied the implications of the Kyoto Protocol and other climate policy agreements.

BENEDICTE SOLAAS Benedicte is an adviser in Industry policy at The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association (Norsk Olje & Gass). She holds two master degrees: one in political science from Moscow Higher School of Economics, and one in International Relations from the University of Kent.
