South Regional Academic Bowl February

From February 9-12, 2017, the North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton, NC co-hosted the South Regional Academic Bowl with GURC-South and Gallaudet University. Academic Bowl is one of our favorite event planning initiatives that strive towards our deaf and hard of hearing students greatness in academics. Every year, each regional center (West, Midwest, South, and North) work closely with Gallaudet University Youth Programs and the host school coordinators to plan an exceptional Academic Bowl regional competition. These competitions welcome deaf and mainstreamed/ inclusion schools from all over the U.S. into their respected regions, to compete against each other in a healthy academic competition. Each team has four players and two coaches. The competitions last throughout two full days and the Champion, Second Place, Third Place, Fourth Place and wild card winners get the opportunity to travel to Gallaudet University in Washington, DC, to compete in the National Academic Bowl competition.

20 schools from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington, DC came for this competition. The winners were:
