January Family of the Month

Meet the Reynolds Family Each New Year brings desire for new goals. We aim to do better, to widen our horizons and reach greater potential. That often springs from the notion of “I’ve got a dream” and is realized by a solid belief in what we know is right and what is needed to reach those goals.

Heather attended Our Savior Lutheran School, which her grandfather (Dr. John Johnson, pastor) helped to found, and later continued at Azalea Middle and Osceola High. She earned a bachelor’s in business from SPC and continued from there to gain a real estate license.

Following his dream also allows Chris to help others more. He volunteers free legal advice at USF and participates in parent-teacher conferences and helps with homework. “Basically, he does whatever he can to help the kids succeed spiritually, educationally, and athletically.”

Enter Gulf Coast’s Family of the Month: Christopher and Heather Reynolds and their sons—Kai, Jayden, and Kaleb. They have dreams… and they move forward with a strength grounded in godly heritage of faith and love.

Chris is an attorney. “It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little boy,” he shared. “I am passionate about justice and fairness and helping people.” He enjoys the entire process – from navigating the system to working directly with the people. “One of the best feelings is seeing a client heal – and getting to be a part of that healing process.”

Heather keeps busy, too. Besides working as a realtor, she is office manager for Chris. And in his own words, she is “a miraculous mother who somehow keeps everything together and makes sure all the boys get to their many activities.” Heather’s parents are a part of that loop, too. “They are such a huge help,” the couple agrees. Family support on every side!

Growing up, they attended various schools, but eventually met through common friends. Heather noticed Chris right away and asked him out—and the rest is a beautiful love story! “We have been together for over 10 years.” The couple has lived in Seminole most of their lives and love that the Tampa Bay area “brings all the benefits of a big city—with the feel of a small town.” It’s hard to beat the arts and entertainment, the beaches and the weather! Chris was educated at Keswick and Northside Christian as well as Seminole public schools. He graduated from Eckerd College (political science and philosophy) and then cum laude from Stetson University College of Law.

Christopher worked for a large law firm in Tampa for over a decade; but in January 2018, with a dream to fulfill, he ventured out to open his own personal injury law firm closer to home – where he could be more personally connected with his clients and able to serve them better.

“So, how do you guys relax!?” We wanted to know!

“What does relax mean?” they quipped! “Just kidding!” The family enjoys togetherness by playing sports as well as watching the local teams, traveling, reading, and discussing theology and philosophy. They participate together in lots of family traditions. One such tradition is that, in January, they listen to Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” and discuss the Civil Rights Movement and the impact it should have on their lives. We at GCF appreciate the example you as a family have shown our community as you strive to maintain strong foundations and reach for greater goals in love and consideration for others. Keep on dreaming!

That change benefits his family as well, since working from St. Petersuburg lends opportunity to be more involved in family life. “Chris has coached or helped with basketball and soccer teams for our kids,” Heather said. “He’s also taken them to ‘take your kids to work day,’ and taught multiple career day classes for our boys.”
