Create Their Future By Justin and Heidi Bushko, Snapology of Clearwater Every step you take is to ensure your child’s success. You enroll them in sports for leadership and teaming, and you enroll them in special classes to keep them engaged and ensure they learn new skills. Our children today are exposed to many technological changes that did not exist when we were growing up. As technology continues to be pervasive impacting virtually every aspect of our lives, we need to equip our children with the education to secure roles or create new companies in the future. According to the

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of jobs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) related fields are growing at double the rate of all other fields combined. Additionally, greater than 90% of these roles pay above the national average. Providing your children with STEM skills will give them a leg up as they continue in their education or business aspirations. There are ever-growing opportunities for children to learn STEM concepts through new activities, classes, and camps. Many of these educational courses are related to building and creating that teach your children’s minds to expand in new areas. STEM courses provide learning opportunities that apply to various fields while building skills that apply to all aspects of life. A single course can build your child’s creativity, teach them problem-solving skills, and engage them in decision making. We need to ensure our children are engaged in learning opportunities that begin to build skills necessary to succeed in STEM related fields to give them a leg up on the competition. One educational arena to consider is basic programming or learning to code. These basic skills can be used in over 50% of STEM related jobs. Learning to program teaches children to

think differently, better understand logic, apply math in various ways, and solve problems by breaking them into small pieces. Other options allow your children to learn more basics of mechanics and engineering, such as gearing and pulleys or speed and torque. All of these are critical to engage in engineering related fields. Empower your children with new ideas and skills for our ever-changing world.

As parents of a young daughter and small business owners in Clearwater, Heidi and Justin Bushko opened Snapology of Clearwater in January 2018. With a shortage of college graduates with degrees in the STEAM (science, technology, education. art, math) fields, they realized how important it is to get children excited about STEAM at a young age. The ability to provide fun and educational classes to children ages 2-14 as a way to give back to the community was very important to them when they decided to open a Snapology franchise location. And who doesn’t like to play with Lego® bricks, laptops, drones, K’nex, etc.?
