This Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Bar recipe makes a nice afternoon treat, especially after a long day at school. We love it because it’s quick (bars are a great treat when you don’t have time to bake multiple sheets of cookies), calls for ingredients one almost always has in their pantry, and of course it’s delicious.

Oatmeal Bars • 2 cups quick-cooking oats • ½ cup packed brown sugar • ½ cup melted butter

• ¼ cup light corn syrup • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1. In a greased 9-inch square microwave-safe dish, combine oats, brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. 2. Microwave on high for 3 minutes, turning halfway through. 3. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and microwave at 30% power for 4 to 5 minutes until chips are soft. Spread chocolate evenly over top. 4. Refrigerate 20 minutes before cutting.
