PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality) It’s summer time and we’re ready to go play and enjoy all the exciting new things Tampa Bay has to offer! The Hungry Family has had a craving for something new and fresh and this month PDQ fit the bill! From the moment we first entered and the hostess greeted our crew, to the kids pick-up game of cornhole with manager Marcus, to our last goodbye, the dinner experience at PDQ was fabulous. PDQ is a new fast casual restaurant that stands for People Dedicated to Quality. They specialize in fresh hand-battered chicken tenders, made-to-order sandwiches, daily cut fries, hand-spun milkshakes and some amazing fresh salads. The principal owners of PDQ were the founders of Outback. The partners spent more than two years developing the concept behind the brand and the quality of the food. On October 30, 2011

the original PDQ opened its doors in Tampa. PDQ now has locations in Alabama, Georgia, New Jersey, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Florida—with the newest location on Park Blvd in Pinellas. When we arrived at PDQ, we were impressed by the size and brightness of the interior. The tall ceilings provided for a nice ambiance and the open kitchen was enormous and professionallooking. The large flat screen TVs at the counter cycled through images of the menu and were a big help in deciding what to order—especially for the kids. One thing that really impressed all of us, was how fast the service was. Before we had even finished selecting our drinks from the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines,
our meals were out and the servers were calling our names! For my meal, I enjoyed PDQ’s signature tenders, which have a nice homemade taste and texture. The Tenders came with a choice of seven different homemade sauces—with the chipotle BBQ sauce being my favorite. The Hungry Dad tried one of PDQ’s many specialty sandwiches. He ordered the Buffy Bleu, a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (2 large tenders atop an egg bun with sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles). He devoured it so I think that means it was tasty. The kids tried PDQ’s Thanksgivinginspired turkey breast sandwich with stuffing spices. They loved it and by the way, it was monstrous! They also tried the Zucchini Fries, which surprisingly they also gobbled up. For dessert, PDQ has a nice selection of hand-spun traditional shakes and malts—with specialty shakes with

Oreo, Heath, chocolate peanut butter, key lime and other seasonal flavors. They also have homemade Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Cranapple Oatmeal and Rocky Road cookies—which are all quite delicious. The atmosphere at PDQ was fun— especially outside where the kids played games. The food was fresh, flavor-filled and delicious. The staff lighthearted and friendly. Our entire family loved it and we think you and your kids will too!
