Destination: Dinner with the

Hungry Family

Harold Seltzer’s Steakhouse It’s almost Valentine’s Day, and we’re looking for the perfect spot for date night. It’s not every Valentine’s Day that we run away for a “couples only” date, but occasionally we like to share the “mush” with our kiddos. We’re on the lookout for spots that feel dressed-up-and-date-night, but still are casual enough to bring the whole family!

Enter: Harold Seltzer’s, an old-world steakhouse with a rich decor and classic take on steaks and sides.

Sandwich. This was a monster! I have no idea if it was even on a plate. That’s how big it was.

scallops and the other, a tender and juicy Rib Eye with a cold water Lobster Tail to seal the deal.

We started our meal with Calamari and a plate of Wings and “fall off the bone” Baby Back Ribs. Our server, Dave was great at making just the right suggestions. Seeing our loaded table of kiddos, Dave thoughtfully offered to stagger our meal so no one was left impatiently waiting. Well, the appetizers came and went along with the amazing rolls that accompanied them. Our four-year-old, lover of all carbs, clearly stated to the entire table, “these are GOOD!”

The older boys shared a rack of Baby Back Ribs and an all-day Monday special: the “Half Pound Cut” Prime Rib. Lovers of both, we rarely heard from the boys as their mouths were constantly eating and humming the praises of the kitchen.

And what could be better than to finish a good meal with dessert? How was there room I will never know – but we shared three desserts so that we could recommend them to you with a big thumbs up! A Neapolitan got our mouths watering. Then the Chocolate Explosion with dark chocolate cake, mousse, frosting, a brownie and ice cream to top it off. Wonderful joy! Finally, the older boys couldn’t stop telling the staff how much they loved the Apple Pie a la mode. Smiles by all – ear to ear and further.

Time for dinner! The younger boys each had the Kids NY Strip w/fries & ice cream for dessert. This was not some throw-away piece of meat. This was the real deal and more steak than probably most adults can consume. Great portions everywhere and the kids were in heaven. My daughter has no idea what she was getting into when she ordered the French Dip

The parents? We were in that loving sharing mood as well. One had the perfectly aged New York Strip with a skewer of grilled
