We choose isolation as Our consolation by Debra evans When you’ve tried to find your place among the people who are supposed to love you most, and you end up more lonely and rejected than ever, sometimes the best comfort—the only security—seems to be found in seclusion. Even though it never works, we find ourselves wishing and dreaming for the comfort of what we are most afraid of… close and personal relationships. When I look at the abuse in my life, I see now what the unhealthy messages in my life taught me from my childhood. The accumulation of years of physical and mental abuse can become too much for anyone to escape, so we find ways to mentally run from the house of pain and into a state of isolation anytime we are confronted with the possibility of intimacy or close personal contact.

and that you are flawed, dirty, damaged, and different. Add to that the fact that the internal list of violations that you keep in your memory continues gathering injustices, wounds, rejection, and everything negative. Unless it is dealt with, it will hold and accumulate these hurts until your perception becomes your reality. If life has broken the glass through which you see, you are likely to lose every opportunity for happiness, peacefulness, and joy in your life. For me, my truth would have remained my reality, But for God…

Dearest sister, the truth of my success in life is that I encounter a wonderful, universal truth: God’s grace is far greater than the past I was constantly reliving. Though your mother, your father, your guardian, your boyfriend, Whether you have been wounded in child- your brother or your husband may seek to hood or you are in an abusive situation now, steal your dignity and destroy your sense of your perception is that your world is unsafe security, isolate you from good people and

intimidate you with curses, arguments, beatings, or damaged property … though any of them might fail to give you the love and respect you deserve … though they may humiliate you, blame you for everything, make you question your reality, and then tell you it’s all in your head. I believe that we have a creator who has designed you for wonderful and healthy relationships, and who offers you His comfort and security that can outweigh any distress. When you say, “Everyone has left me in the dust. Even the Lord has surely forsaken and forgotten me,” God responds, “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:14-16a). I don’t know what you believe about God and all the religious stuff, but I can tell you from the experiences in my life, it has certainly worked for me.
