Silvino Santos viajou ainda novo para a floresta amazónica. Mais tarde, financiado por um seringalista rumou a Paris, onde estudou cinema com os irmãos Lumière. De regresso ao Brasil, na década 20 do século XX, realizou uma obra documental sobre a grande floresta e os seringais. Em Silvino Santos, Um Europeu na Amazónia, o CAAA Centro para os Assuntos da Arte e Arquitectura apresenta-nos a vida e uma seleção da obra fotográfica e cinematográfica do autor luso-brasileiro. While still a young man, Silvino Santos travelled to the Amazon jungle. Later, financed by a rubber tycoon, he headed to Paris where he studied cinema with the Lumière brothers. On his return to Brazil in the 1920s he directed a documentary about the jungle and the rubber tree plantations. In Silvino Santos, A European in the Amazon, CAAA Centro para os Assuntos da Arte e Arquitectura shows us the Luso-Brazilian’s life and a selection of his film and photographic work.
A exposição dedicada ao escultor Ângelo de Sousa integra um filme, uma escultura, documentos, fotografias e maquetes de trabalho do autor. Além do filme produzido em Super 8, a ser apresentado pela primeira vez no CAAA Centro para os Assuntos da Arte e Arquitectura, a exposição reforça a cumplicidade entre os diferentes suportes artísticos e amplia o conhecimento e a perceção individual destes objetos. This exhibition – dedicated to the sculptor Ângelo de Sousa – brings together a film, a sculpture, documents, photographs and models conceived by the artist. As well as the Super 8 film which will be presented for the first time at CAAA Centro para os Assuntos da Arte e Arquitectura, the exhibition strengthens complicity between the different artistic supports, and expands the individual knowledge and perception of these objects.
