AWP, OFFICE FOR TERRITORIAL RECONFIGURATION
SITUATION: Paris, France
YEAR: December 2016 - May 2018
PROGRAM: In december 2016 I had the opportunity to start working at AWP, office for territorial reconfiguration in Paris. There I had the change to be involved in all kind of projects. With different phases, programs and scales. The project which I was most involved in was the project of “Les Jardins de L’Arche”, in which I had the role of “Chef de projet” from February 2017 until now. This position allowed me to monitoring the site and dealing with all the challenges of an operation of this size. Les Jardin de L’Arche is a competition won by AWP in 2011. The aim of the project is to support the upcoming urban planning changes to the neighborhood: Terrasses de Nanterre, the Arena 92 stadium, residences and hotels, acting as a genuine interchange between La Défense and Seine-Arche. The project becomes a continuous ramp of nearly 750m that starts on the foot of “La Grande Arche” which contributes to an improved urban experience and a more fluid space. The principal objective is to create an architectural, urban and landscaping continuity between the newly developed and existing urban spaces and animate this space with a series of “Sports Urbains”.
As well, during my time at AWP I had the role of “cheff de projet” for the project of a technique pavilion for the city of Nanterre. The pavilion is located in one of the extremes of “Les Jardins de L’Arche” and it aims to host the street sweepers and different equipment’s that the city needs in order to control the area of the Jardins de L’Arche. The other project that I had work on was “L’Oree de Crissier”.A 6.8 Ha contemporary city near Lausanne, with 390 housing units, public amenities, including green space and a network of public areas. In this project I was in charge of the public space, all the underground common spaces and a housing block I have participated as well in the project of “Villa Bourguet”, a mixed used neighborhood of 1Ha in Aix en Provence that consists in 3 000m2 housing and 9 000m2 offices. Between this main projects, I have participated in different competitions like “Les Folies de Nanterre”, the “IBA PARKSTAD” in the Netherlands, the master plan for “Vidy” outside Lausanne, the transformation of the electric power plant “CPCU” and in other tasks of the office like administration and communication for the office.

01 PROJECT: Valais 2048, Master Thesis Project
SITUATION: Valais. Switzerland
YEAR: 2016 PROFESSOR: Enric Batlle
PROGRAM: The project begins with an extend research done during my exchange in Switzerland with the professor Paola Vigano, about the future of Switzerland; more exactly with the scenario of the Valais in the year 2048. Studies done by the group studio Basel and the ETH reveals that Switzerland is going to have two major issues to deal with in less than 50years. One one hand, the growing of the population, which point up to 14.000.000 people, doubling the actual population of the Helvetic country. On the other hand the increase of temperature caused by the global warming, that will affect to the future of the ski stations and the river levels. The Valais, Swiss canton of the Alps, is one of the regions of Switzerland that is going to suffer more these consequences, due to its geographical situation and the actual growing of the population. The project aims to detect an area of the Valais with potential to develop having in account the factors named.
The zone chosen is the associations of communes of Crans Montana. The project consists in generating an axe between these communes, making them work in a more autonomy way, with an efficient system of transportation, an agricultural program and a better management of the resources, specially the water, that as we will see is a key point in the Valais. This axe ends up connecting to an existing funicular, and at this point a new intermodal station will appear.

02 PROJECT: Post industrial Landscape
SITUATION: Ciutat Meridiana, Barcelona
YEAR: 2012 PROFESSORS: Xavier Vancells, Claudi Agiló
PROGRAM: The project consisted in the rehabilitation of and industrial area in the outsides of Barcelona. The site is located between the neighborhoods of Ciutat Meridiana and Can Cuyàs and it has one of the biggest highways to access Barcelona crossing on top of it. This project aims to help in the reconnection of the two neighborhoods and to reactive the existing industrial areas with new activities, recycling the existing structures of the old industry. Can Cuyàs is located on a key point of access to Barcelona , acting as a gateway to the city and the surrounding connected through a set of infrastructures such as highways, metro and even a Railway Station. Can Cuyàs could be the best place to exchange agricultural products without the need to go to Barcelona , saving time , money and CO2 emissions. .
We detect the pre-existence of some urban orchards that have been created independently by the neighbors around. Adding this, to the large number of unemployed in the area and fields surrounding, we consider appropriate to create a market of Km0 in the area of Can Cuyàs. In this way residents could engage in farming and orchards and being able to sell the product in the market. The existing industrial buildings will be used to host the Market itself and to create a greenhouse.
Club Of Rome
SITUATION: Zurich, Switzerland
YEAR: 2014 PROFESSORS: Giuliani & HongĂźer
PROGRAM: The project consisted in creating a building of mixed uses for the new headquarters of the club of Rome in the heart of Zurich. The building had to have a public space with a bar, a foyer, a conference hall and a library, coexisting with the offices of the club of Rome and a set of three apartments for guest. The building was located in the shore of the Limmat River and at the limit between two neighborhoods with different morphologies. The project aims to create a public space on the ground floor to interact with the city and make the club of Rome part of it. That’s why it has the bar at the street level creating a terrace on the back side, protected from the winds of the river. The morphology of the building is a respond to its situation, having different heights, each one corresponding to the existing typology.
Competition “Whats up Paris”, Rethinking competitions Honorable Mention
SITUATION: Champs de Mars, Paris
PROGRAM: “Curiouser and curiouser!” (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland) A new world has been conceived in hearth of Paris, a continuous monument that represents an empty in space and time. A space for adventurous. This continuous monument is a travel through sensations. Thanks to its structure and its composition, the monument will bring the visitor step by step to a new world, allowing the visitor go back to the roots of our human being. Hosted by an external skin of mirrors, this new world melts with its neighbors, such as the Champs of Mars and the Haussman facades. On the inside, wild trees and animals are enjoying the joy of life, away from the noises and the stress of the metropolis. From a dark space, though a dense forest, to an open area designed to enjoy the pleasures of life and community. The traveler will be able to find himself in this trip and to share experiences with other visitors.
The interior of this wall becomes a structure that reinterprets the machine of the Tour Eiffel, locating all the access and services in this metal structure with walkways that allow the visitor to have different views of the city and of the park itself at any time. The monument ends up in a terrace looking inside the Tour Eiffel. The visitor, starts his journey in a dark space, alone and scared, and ends it on a higher level, which allows him to look at the city and its monuments.

05 PROJECT: Competition “Una torre para volar”, Becas Arquia.
SITUATION: Non Specific
PROGRAM: Already in Greek mythology, Icarus risked facing the laws of nature. He devised a way of circumventing the Earth’s gravity and ascend to the height, a challenge to the impossible for everyone except for him. This tower is designed for such individuals, like Icarus, they decide to risk and go beyond. The tower is presented as a continuous monument which is mostly surrounded by a material that reflects the environment in which it is situated, making it invisible to lazy eyes that don’t want to risk or explore new bounds. A game of cat ladders are waiting to guide you through a dizzying road of successive platforms, from different heights that help to create different experiences along the ascension. After the last platform, the adventurer accesses the roof tower. That is the essence of the structure, a completely white empty bucket, with perfect transparency of nowhere, where the landscape is framed, and that only hangs a swing.
