Wedding food and trends are forever changing and evolving. We chatted to Rock & Roll Event Caterers Jacks Kitchen to get the low down on trends for 2018. Every couple needs a starting block, so here’s 4 to kick off 2018 like a boss!

Couples are taking influences from their travels with a huge rising trend in Middle Eastern & Asian food. Persian influences have everyone talking and trying za’atar, cardamom, harissa, moroccan lamb and, of course, halloumi. Think pimped up BBQ’s served on sharing boards with delicious sustainable meats and vegetables, middle Eastern spices and rubs, all served with salads bursting with colour and flavour. Everyone digs in, it’s less formal but more intimate and a talking point around the table. What’s not to like?

It’s a trend that’s sticking around and why not? Throw the traditional 3 courser out the window. With wedfests as one of the most popular ways to get married it’s the perfect opportunity to get amazing food vendors pitch up their gazebo or van allowing your guests to go up and grab what’s on offer. Wow your guests with a Neapolitan Wood Fired pizza, pimped up burgers and dogs or some tasty steak & chips for your main or night bites! Competition is fierce and you certainly won’t be stuck for some highclass choices.

British Comfort Food Simple food & British classics are always timeless way beyond any trend. Give us a bowl of stew & dumplings, a nostalgic pudding, or a plate of fish and chips any day. Simple, humble and utterly delicious. At least one of those dishes above conjure up memories of childhood for the married couple. Feasting on these classics after an afternoon of toasts and laughter is the ultimate comfort.

Bowl and Grab Some couples vote for no seating plans, with a chilled and relaxed vibe so guests can continue socialising with ease, avoiding the forced sit-down meal scenario. Bowl & Grab food is similar to a canapé party, with a miniature bowl and fork or small plate. Instead these delicious mini meals provide guests with a more substantial and satisfying meal and they don’t miss out on the wow factor. Bang on trend!
