ALBARETTO DELLA TORRE Il significato del nome del paese andrebbe attribuito al termine piemontese “arbra”, ricco di boschi, ma più probabilmente le origini romane sono quasi certe come risulta da alcune scoperte archeologiche. La torre, realizzata nel sec. XII, a pianta quadrata, svetta, ben conservata, al centro del paese e ne è il suo simbolo. Nel secolo successivo la torre venne affiancata da un castello fatto costruire da Manfredo Del Carretto, successivamente distrutto nel corso del Seicento. Da vedere la confraternita dell’ Immacolata che sarà adibita a locale per manifestazioni culturali, concerti e mostre. Curiosa la leggenda che narra di certo “Branda de Lucioni” che teorizzava le tattiche di guerriglia per sconfiggere i giacobini francesi invasori con l’uso di arnesi agricoli e turni di sentinella sul campanile dei paesi, in modo che si potessero suonare le campane a martello all’avvicinarsi dei nemici.
Der Ortsname könnte auf den piemontesischen Begriff „arbra”, reich bewaldet, zurückgeführt werden. Allerdings scheint sein römischer Ursprung weitaus plausibler, was einige archäologische Ausgrabungen bestätigen. Im Ortszentrum befindet sich das Wahrzeichen, ein quaderförmiger, hoher Turm aus dem 12. Jahrhundert, der noch heute gut erhalten ist. Im Jahrhundert nach seiner Erbauung wurde der Turm um eine Burg ergänzt, mit deren Konstruktion Manfredo Del Carretto beauftragt wurde, welche im 17. Jahrhundert jedoch zerstört wurde. Sehenswert ist die Confraternita dell‘Immacolata, die künftig als Veranstaltungsort für kulturelle Events, Konzerte und Ausstellungen benutzt werden soll. Eine Legende erzählt von Branda de Lucioni, einem italienischen Soldaten, der Guerilla-Taktiken abwandelte, um Eindringlinge, wie die französischen Jakobiner zu bekämpfen. Dazu machte er von landwirtschaftlichem Gerät Gebrauch und organisierte verschiedene Wachtposten auf den Kirchtürmen der umliegenden Ortschaften, die sich regelmäßig ablösten, damit die Glocken mit dem Hammer geschlagen werden konnten, sobald Feinde gesichtet wurden.

The meaning of the village name should be attributed to the piedmontese term “arbra”, rich in forests, but more likely the Roman origins are almost certain as can be seen from some archaeological discoveries. The tower, built in sec. XII, squared, stands well preserved at the center of the village and it is its symbol. In the following century the tower was flanked by a castle built by Manfredo Del Carretto, subsequently destroyed during the seventeenth century. It worth a visit the building “Brotherhood of the Immaculate” which will be used for cultural events, concerts and exhibitions. A curious legend narrates of “Branda de Lucioni” who theorized the guerrilla tactics to defeat the invading French Jacobins with the use of agricultural tools and watch shifts on the bell tower of the villages, so that they could ring the bells as the enemies approach.
