Inspiration for Life; Excellence in all we do

7th December 2012

This Week Thank you to everyone who bought a poppy from the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal this year. We are proud to have raised £51.13 which helps the Royal British Legion to provide practical care, advice and support to serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families. This week the Christmas post box arrived in the entrance hall so children can post their Christmas cards before the start of each day. Please could all cards go into the box with the children’s class and surname. Many of you will be aware picking up from Film Club last week was a lengthier process than usual owing to the high number of children that attended. As we ensure that we are constantly up to date with the latest safety guidelines both for fire safety and safeguarding, our procedures for signing in and out are essential and we are grateful for parents’ patience as we do this. Please be assured we will try to make this process more efficient and convenient for future events. Congratulations to everybody in the Golden Book this week: Mrs Kelsey, Mr Morrissey, Toby Culverhouse, Kit Cooper-Tutton, Robert Charlton, Freddie Haddow, Maizy Peach, Eliza Riggs, Stephen Bennett, Will Holman, Neve Evans, Luke Forrest, Oskar Shepard, Ellie Peach, Arizona Moore, Mrs Busby, Miss Smythe, Lewis Welford & Emily Tate. Next Week We are looking forward to some exciting events next week with a very Christmassy feel. On Tuesday Year 5 are going back in time to enjoy a Tudor Christmas. This is always a very popular event and I’m sure the children will have a great time. On Wednesday it is our Christmas Dinner and the children will be wearing the hats they have designed and made themselves (pre-book only). On Thursday we are all really looking forward to our Carol Service at 6pm at St. Leonard’s Church. This is a lovely event where pupils, parents, staff and members of the wider community come together to celebrate Christmas. We hope to see you there. FroGS News and School Notices KS1 Production 20th December: We are really looking forward to our Nativity performance, and letters and tickets were sent home today. FroGS would be very grateful for any volunteers to help at the KS1 Nativity by serving refreshments prior to each performance (1.30pm and 6.00pm) and helping to clear up afterwards. If you are able to help, please speak to one of the FroGS or email the office at In keeping with tradition, the school would also like to ask for a few mince pie donations for the KS1 Nativity, so that we may offer a little festive cheer with the pre-performance refreshments. Please bring any donations to the office on 19th or 20th December. Thank you.

School Run: Please do not use the bus layby outside school when you drop off your child in the morning. Recently the bus has had to wait before it can park for the children to get off, meaning that the children are delayed and the bus is blocking the road. This can also lead to people performing dangerous manoeuvres to get back out of the layby putting themselves and others at risk. Snow Days: Owing to Bucks CC school closure procedures, if we need to let you know that the school will be closed because of snow etc. we will post the information on the Bucks CC website after all the necessary stages have been completed by the Headteacher. You will find school closures at web page as well as our website If you do not have internet access, listen to local radio stations who also announce school closures. It is best to check for updates regularly as the decision to close is taken based on the safety of children and staff travelling to school, so we need to consult the school bus company before announcing a closure. We will inform you as early as we possibly can. Hot Meals: If your child is going to be late for school (e.g. for a medical appointment) but would like a hot meal, please inform school by 9:10am as Buckingham Primary request our lunch order by then and we are unable to adjust the order later in the day. Thank you. Uniform: Please check if you have any uniform or sports kit at home that belongs to another child and return any extra items to school, as it is easy for jumpers to get muddled after activities like P.E.
