Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

Dear Parents/Carers Apologies for the brief newsletter this week. I am hastily writing it as the snow is falling… Winter Weather Many thanks for your patience and understanding with this week’s weather. It is never a clear cut decision when snow is ‘forecast’ then doesn’t seem to arrive. For Monday, again, we will update the school website first. The first post will be at 7am and this will tell you immediately of our intentions. I will only use the Bucks CC website when a firm, final decision is made i.e. early closure/late opening/ full closure. Please give us feedback as to how you found the communication regarding the snow. If there are improvements to be made, we want to know. I would also like to extend my thanks to Mr. Hawkin for keeping us safe this week by removing snow from the school site and laying down grit each day. Courage We have been exploring the idea of courage during assemblies this week, and how this links to our learning behaviours. Sometimes in lessons we find things tricky, which is good – challenges are good, but we need courage to tackle them. Year 6 On Tuesday Year 6 were very fortunate to visit the war memorial in Grendon and St. Leonard’s Church to enhance their learning of their World War I topic. As well as this visit, local historian Brian Fuller gave a talk to the Year 6 children on Thursday afternoon. He shared his research on Grendon’s soldiers who lost their lives in WWI as well as research that took him to the battlefields of France and Belgium. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience and we hope to have Mr. Fuller back working with small groups in the future as his contribution was invaluable. Textile Collection: The bags for the Bag2School textile collection have gone home today. Please donate any textiles such as clothes, bedding or soft toys and it will help us raise more money for the school. The collection is on the 22nd January at 9am- please do not bring your bags before the 22 nd as we have nowhere to store them. Thank you. Hot Meals: If your child is going to be late for school (e.g. for a medical appointment) but would like a hot meal, please inform school by 9:10am as Buckingham Primary request our lunch order by then and we are unable to adjust the order later in the day. Thank you. Nursery: We would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Nursery children, hope you have had a good week and settled in well.
