El departamento de Jalapa se encuentra en el suroriente de Guatemala y su cabecera departamental lleva el mismo nombre. Se habla el idioma español y el idioma indígena predominante es el poqomam, principalmente en los municipios de San Pedro Pinula, San Luis Jilotepeque, Mataquescuintla y San Carlos Alzatate. En la aldea La Toma, en Jalapa, se encuentran las Cascadas de Tatasirire, un parque ecoturístico y reserva natural privada de 22 manzanas. Cuenta con dos riachuelos y seis cascadas con más de diez manantiales; en donde el visitante podrá recrearse en un área natural, realizar actividades de aventura extrema y sostenible.
The department of Jalapa is located in the South-East of Guatemala and its departmental capital is the townwith the same name. Besides Spanish, the predominantly indigenous language Poqomam is mainly spoken in San Pedro Pinula, San Luis Jilotepeque, Mataquescuintla and San Carlos Alzatate. The Tatasirire Falls are located in the village of La Toma, in Jalapa. It is an ecotourism park and private reserve of 22 hectares. It has two rivers and six waterfalls with more than ten springs, where visitors can entertain themselves in a natural area, and enjoy extreme and sustainable adventure activities.

Jutiapa es un departamento cuyo paisaje resulta particular, debido a que forma el final de la cordillera volcánica, su territorio cuenta con diversas altitudes, con áreas montañosas al norte y playas turísticas al sur. Entre sus principales atractivos naturales está el Lago de Güija, el mayor en el oriente del país y que se ubica en la frontera con El Salvador, en donde se puede nadar y pescar. También la Laguna de Atescatempa, que a orillas del volcán Las Víboras permite refrescarse luego de haber ascendido el volcán.
Entre las playas de Jutiapa están la Barra del Jiote, El Limón, Barra de La Gabina. El balneario de la Cueva de Anda Mirá, está formado por una gruta, en cuya entrada se ha construido una pequeña piscina, formada de aguas cristalinas y frescas. 82
Jutiapa is a department with special landscapes, it is formed at the end of the volcanic mountain range and its land has various elevations, with mountainous areas to the north and touristic beaches to the south. Among its natural attractions is the Güija Lake, the largest in the east of the country and it is located on the border with El Salvador. Visitors can swim and fish there. There is also the Atescatempa Lagoon, which is a perfect place to cool down and refresh or swim after having climbed Las Víboras Volcano. Among the Jutiapa beaches are: Barra del Jiote, El Limon, Barra de La Gabina. The Cave and baths of Anda Mirá, begin in a cavern and on its entrance there is a small pool with crystalline fresh water.
