Keeping Young People Connected
Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency Youth Team is dedicated to supporting young people into training, education and employment opportunities. We have a team of specialist advisers who are experienced in progressing young people into positive destinations. We are able to do this through working in strong partnership with local schools, colleges, employers and training organisations, enabling us to provide tailored solutions for each individual.

It’s also great to be working as I’ve got more money in my pocket, I’m getting to the football and going on holiday this year too.’
Programmes on offer for 16-19 Year Olds Youth Employability & Transition Support (YETS) YETS is an innovative guidance and employability programme which aims to provide young people aged 16-19 years with the skills and support they need to progress into employment, education or training. Our services include: one to one support and advice from a dedicated employment adviser; referral to specialist agencies for support in overcoming barriers to employment or training, the opportunity of a six month work placement in an occupation of their choice where participants are paid a real wage, and in-work support from an Aftercare Team who are there to offer help with making the transition into full-time employment. The YETS programme has an excellent track record of delivering many positive outcomes for the young people of South West Glasgow. Our clients have secured employment with a wide range of employment sectors including: construction; administration; retail; and childcare.

Get Ready For Work Get Ready for Work is a national training programme that Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency deliver in partnership with Skills Development Scotland. It is designed to prepare young people to enter into employment by developing core employability skills such as confidence, motivation and teamwork as well as communication, time-keeping and IT skills. While young people are on the Get Ready for Work course they are given the opportunity of a work experience placement while being paid a weekly training allowance for the duration of the programme. They can also be offered help and support with travel and additional work related costs.

GSWRA is committed to supporting the wider need to positively engage young people in their local communities. To enable us to do this we offer a wide range of diversionary and interactive services centred on young people. These services include: – Cre:8 Multi-media vehicle – Kicks ‘n’ Tricks Street Football project – Youth Safety Initiative – Moving Image Education Programme
