Fire Safety Caregiver Certificate Course This course is based on the provisions of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A) Chapter 25, title 2 that fall under the jurisdiction of the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner’s State Fire Marshall’s Office O.G.C.A. 25-2-12(b)(1)(I) (j). It provides the basic information concerning fire safety to adults working with occupants in “group day-care homes”, day care centers, and for administrators, directors, operators, and all staff of Group I-1 and Group R-4, assisted living communities, facilities, and arrangements, memory care unites, personal care homes, and residential board and care homes. The participant will receive a Caregiver Certificate from the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office upon the passing of the test at the end of the course. Cooking with Jenny In the comfortable home setting of the Rumble Seat Inn, these 3-hour classes are designed to equip students with practical skills that encourage the transition away from processed foods. Have fun learning about healthy and fresh food preparation and recipes, and of course, your reward is to enjoy the food prepared in class. Classes are a fun way to enjoy a night out with friends, meet new people and learn new skills -- they also make a great gift!

Jenny Dawn is the chef and owner of Humble Pie Catering, as well as the owner of The Rumble Seat Inn Bed & Breakfast. She has studied abroad at numerous international locations in France, Russia and Italy, and more specifically, at Le Cordon Bleu French Cooking Schools in Ottawa, Canada and London, England. Now, each year in the spring and fall, she conducts cooking classes in different parts of Europe for a week’s stay in a castle and sightseeing tours, teaching each night a different country’s cuisine. In the States, Jenny has worked for Tyler Perry Studios preparing the food scenes in several of his movies. In addition, she has cooked for Turner Studios in Atlanta, HGTV and National Geographic. She recently returned from living abroad in Ireland for a year while working on a cookbook. Jenny says she is happy to be living back in Georgia where the Southern hospitality is like nowhere else in the world and the food is worth coming home to.

Questions and Answers How do I register?

We strive to keep registration simple by offering three easy ways to register for our programs: by mail, online, or in person. You may register using the form across this page to mail with a check or money order, or simply register & pay online for MasterCard, Visa or American Express. We would love to meet and register you in person, but keep in mind that cash payments need to be the exact amount of your total. Our instructors cannot accept money for registration fees. Course rates are subject to change without notice. Any additional cost to the course will be included in the course description. If the course involves physical activity such as the swim classes, a signed waiver of liability is required prior to the course.

Why should I register early?

We reserve the right to cancel courses due to low enrollment. Such decisions are made three business days prior to the class begin date. If a course is rescheduled for any reason, those registered will be contacted to verify availability for the rescheduled date. If a course is canceled due to low enrollment, registration fees are refunded in full.

Where do I park?

At the time of registration, you will be given a parking permit to hang on your rear-view mirror and instructed as to which parking lot is to be used for that particular course.

Emergency Closing - Inclement Weather

The decision to close Gordon State College due to inclement weather is carefully weighed before it is made. Students with special needs must notify the Community Education office a minimum of two business days before the course start date so appropriate accommodations can be arranged.

Holidays

The campus will be closed on September 5 (Labor Day), November 24 - 25 (Thanksgiving Holiday), December 19 - January 3 (Winter Break), January 16 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day). No Community Education courses will meet on these days.

All classes are for ages 16 and up, and will take place on the Gordon State College Campus, unless otherwise indicated. Registration is required for all courses.

Does course registrations require admission to the college?

Community Education classes do not require admission to the college nor do they require transcripts.

No refunds given once a course begins. However, if a course is canceled, the student will receive a full refund or may apply payment to another course within one year. Failure to attend a course does not constitute withdrawal or refund. Community Education students need parking decals for their vehicles. Parking permits will be given to students from the Community Education office, once registration is completed.
