Willson's W daughter Louuisa married thhe Rev. F. W. Rhodes and their childrenn included Ceccil Rhodes an nd Francis (Frank). The latter, photoggraphed here with w cricket baat and stumps, jjoined the arm my and was paart of Kitchener’s N Nile expeditioon to relieve General G Gordoon at Khartoum,, the Siege of Ladysmith an nd relief of Mafeking. H He was also senntenced to deaath for his part rt in planning thhe Jameson Raid, R commuteed to fifteen years but releeased after payying a fine. Stock: 49509

A mid-nineteen nth century cop opy of the letteer written on 19 9th June 1815 by a soldier w who had fough ht in Waterloo, W the leetter gives dettails from the battalion's leeaving Enghien n at 3 o'clock in the mornin ng until after th he battle. The soldier s describbes his horse being b killed in n the action, th he numbers off those wounded and the orrder of events. The last pagee has a battle plan showing paart of the battlle. After nine n weeks att sea, and withh continued labbour and endu urance, Riou successfully navigated his half-sunk shiip back to portt, saving the livves of those who w had electeed to remain with him. Portrait of Jeean-Balthazar Keller (1638--1702), Swiss gunfounder w who replaced his brother Jean-Jacques ass master of thee French founddries in 1694. He is shown leaning on ann unfinished cannon, c gesturring at his equestrian staatue of Louis XIV. This staatue was cast iin a single piecee in 1692, the first time thiss had been achieved. Plaaced in the Plaace Vendôme,, it was destroyed in 1792 during the t French rev volution, a few w months shortt of its centenaary. The British were su uccessful in ex xpelling the B Burmese from Assam, but Bandula, the ab blest of the Buurmese generaals, repelled a British detachm ment at Ramu oon the Chittag gong frontier. In n reply, the Brritish sent an eexpedition of 11,000 men un nder Major-General Archibbald Campbelll and ship un nder Captain Frederick F Marrryat to attack k Rangoon by seea.
