network  ALPINE CHIC MEETS CITY STYLE

If it wasn’t for two visionary tailors from the alpine town of Annecy in south-eastern France combining their craftsmanship with entrepreneurship in 1952, then the world-famous stirrup pants ski suit by Fusalp would not exist today. Iconic for its skin-tight pants, its non-existence would be a loss for the world of ski and fashion. The brand was first showcased at the 1963 Olympic Games in Innsbruck and became legendary after Léo Lacroix sporting a Fusalp racing suit spectacularly won 16 medals at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships held in Chile in 1966. Arguably Fusalp was not only a world-famous brand in the past but to give you an idea of how high this premium brand ranks, it has become the official outfitter for the Monégasque Olympic Committee at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games in South Korea. What is Fusalp’s secret recipe for the huge success stories it is celebrating again after so long? Indispensable to this has to be its legendary tailoring technique, which in the case of Fusalp can be ascribed to sheer craftsmanship constantly reinventing and optimising the clear lines of the prototypical stirrup pants. With the streamlined cut of the stirrup pants always taking centre stage in its design, small wonder that the name Fusalp is an abbreviation for “fuseau des Alpes”, that is to say “fuseau of the Alps”. Skiwear by Fusalp is synonymous with the proverbial elegance that is French style. Simplicity combined with technical innovation, every item is a veritable work of art. The unique sporty-chic silhouette of the design combines the art of movement with French elegance both on and off the slopes. The typical tight-fitting cut allows for optimal freedom of movement thanks to the highly-developed and sophisticated fabric deployed. Fusalp’s new collection skilfully combines tradition with modernity, style and innovation, not to mention courage and determination. Fusalp has long recognised that for its demanding clientele there is much more to it than simply selecting a pair of stirrup pants or a ski suit. This means that it is possible for every item from the collection to be combined perfectly thanks to the well thought out colour and style combinations. Also, despite the strongly urban-influenced design, sporting performance and superior tailoring craftsmanship continue to be at the forefront during development and execution. Mathilde Lacoste, the artistic director at Fusalp, is the strong woman behind the exceptional collection. She is bubbling over with ideas and the benchmark for her creations is always the same: An item of clothing has to be functional, without compromising on style and look in the process. Since our everyday life is characterised by diversity, the goal she has set herself for this year’s new Urban Style collection is that everything that Fusalp creates can also be worn with the same versatility with which we live life – be it on the slopes or in the city.
