In less than 18 months Santander has become the most visible bank in the UK retail banking sector Santander entered the UK retail banking sector in March 2010 after acquiring Bradford & Bingley, Abbey National and Alliance & Leicester.

Goals • Secure page 1 rankings for high volume search terms on Google UK for its 4 core products • Close the online visibility gap with its main competitors • Become the most visible bank in the natural search results for retail banking products in the UK by the end of 2011

Results • Domain Migration – Alliance & Leicester’s domain used to boost the credibility of the Santander domains to improve ranking visibility • Performance Monitoring - Rank monitoring keywords to quickly identify potential areas for growth or possible threats

• Greenlight secured page 1 rankings for 7 of the 8 target terms in February 2011, less than 1 year after the campaigns and the subdomain were created • In June 2011, Santander became the most visible bank for its core 4 products, overtaking its main competitors
