Thank you for choosing Green Lake Jewelry Works to be a part of your custom jewelry journey. Inside you will find the story of your opal bracelet, from start to finish.
1 The Custom Process
THE SEATTLE STUDIO
Green Lake Jewelry Works originally opened its doors on Seattle’s Green Lake Drive in 1996. By 2006, the addition of numerous talented artists and jewelers prompted an expansion to a studio recognized as ‘the coolest store in America’ by INSTORE Magazine. Your bracelet was handmade here at the Seattle studio.
AT GREEN LAKE, WE TRANSLATE IDEAS INTO BEAUTIFUL DESIGN, USING PRECIOUS MATERIALS TO CRAFT ORIGINAL JEWELRY FOR LIFE’S IMPORTANT MOMENTS.
2 The Design
EACH CUSTOM PIECE AT GREEN LAKE BEGINS AS A SKETCH. YOUR BRACELET
Hand-carved sterling silver hinged bracelet made to have the appearance of sandstone and crashing waves. Ten hand-fabricated 18k yellow gold bezels set along the top half of the bracelet hold cabochon-cut Australian opals of varying shape and color. This bracelet has a hidden hinge and clasp on the sides with a blackened color on the recessed details of the silver base. The remainder of the bracelet has a matte finish. The total carat weight of the opals has been hand engraved on the inside of the bracelet along with a hand-fabricated 18k yellow gold Green Lake leaf.
DESIGNER: AMBER Amber loves a design challenge and is excellent at finding the details that are important to both parties in the creation of custom work. She specializes in taking meaningful elements of a couple’s life together and tastefully incorporating them into the piece. Whether it is a favorite church in Italy or a flower from a meaningful vacation shared, she takes the fine details and makes the design specific to that individual couple. After years of working and training within Green Lake, her specialty on the bench has become focused on intricate filigree work and sculptural pieces that draw on a broad range of architectural inspiration from Gothic cathedrals to the organic, whimsical nature of Gaudi’s work. Intricate, beautiful, and delicate— those are the words to describe her artful designs. Inspired by artists from different times and places, she knows how to bring a certain feel to a project whether jewelry design or painting.

4 Your Gemstones
This collection of custom-cut cabachon Austrailian opals are a sight to behold. The design of your bracelet is crafted to the exact proportions of these gorgeous gemstone centerpieces.
5 Wax Model
UNIQUE FABRICATION JOURNEY
Typically, each piece of custom jewelry we create is modeled in CAD using a parametric drafting program specific to jewelry making. In order to create a bracelet with truly freeform curves and etchings, this piece needed to be carved entirely by hand. Our wax carver, Kristi, begins by laying an image of Amber’s sketch over the rough wax form. Layer by layer, she adds texture and definition to the ridges and valleys that flow over the curves of the bracelet.

6 Custom Casting
MODELS ARE CONFIRMED FOR FIT AND LOOK BEFORE CASTING.
The model for this bracelet was cast in plaster and heated to release the wax from its mold using a specialized induction machine from Italy, as is used by the world’s leading jewelry houses. Your bracelet was cast in 100% recycled silver, making it an ethically sourced and produced piece of custom jewelry.
7 At the Bench
ALL AREAS OF OLD-WORLD JEWELRY MAKING ARE COMPLETED IN A SINGLE WORKSHOP.
Working just feet away from the Green Lake Design team, our Gold and Platinumnsmiths collaborate frequently to ensure every detail is perfect. It’s the nuances and care of each piece that make them so unique and one-of-akind.
As a classically trained Gold and Platinumsmith in the European tradition of hand fabrication, Joe is skilled at recreating vintage pieces of jewelry. Under a formal apprenticeship with a Master Jeweler, he repeated basic projects in copper and brass until the strict standards of his mentor were achieved. Joe takes pride in the hand-fabricated details he creates at his bench.
8 Hand Fabrication
HAND-FABRICATED BEZELS Recycled 18k yellow gold is melted down to create the material for the bezels.
Because each stone has a different dimension and depth, Joe painstakingly creates each bezel to perfectly fit and protect the opal it will hold.
Each hand-fabricated bezel is settled into position, and checked for fit before being hammered into place.
DETAIL WORK The hinge of the bracelet is created and set into place, and an antiquing solution is carefully hand-painted into the inset valleys of the bracelet.
ENGRAVING AND POLISH The exact carat weight of your opals, the abbreviations of the metals used, and Joe’s initials are engraved on the interior of the bracelet, along with a handmade yellow gold Green Lake Jewelry Works leaf. Joe gives the exterior a matte finish
FITTING Making sure that the bracelet fit and felt comfortable was a crucial step before setting all of the opals into place.
9 The Finished Piece

A NOTE FROM YOUR DESIGNER
Thank you very much for allowing me the pleasure of working with you both on this project. It was an honor to have you make Green Lake Jewelry one of the stops on your intimate and special journey together. Your beautiful Romantic Art Deco piece is a perfect representation of uniqueness and elegance. The stone is stunning and is only heightened by the beautiful and timeless platinum setting. Brant and I thoroughly enjoyed assisting in the sourcing and selection process for the stone and couldn’t be happier for you both. We hope that it will bring you joy every time you catch its sparkle in the light. The wedding bands compliment the ring in its lines and curves. It is a truly unique combination that I hope you will enjoy wearing and showing off for many years to come. My very best wishes to you both!
