PACKET PICKUP Race packet pickup will be held at JAX Fort Collins Outdoor Gear (1200 North College Avenue Fort Collins, CO 80524) on Saturday from 2-7 PM. You can pick up your bib & shirt as well as check out some awesome outdoor equipment or try the on course electrolyte drink Nuun. Yes, you can have someone else pickup your packet for you. No race day packet pickup unless you registered for this option and paid the additional fee in advance.

JAX Fort Collins Outdoor Gear is located at the corner of College Ave and Conifer St in North Fort Collins. There is plenty of parking to accommodate all of our runners. It is also easily accessible by bus line 81, directly off of the College & Conifer stop or a half mile off of the Poudre Bike Trail. This is a Green Event so consider carpooling with fellow runners or taking advantage of public transportation.

Race shirts are gender specific, long sleeve, black, tech shirts. Shirts are guaranteed for all participants who

registered by September 13th. You will receive the shirt size you registered for in your race packet.

RUNNERS BIBS In order to ensure that race volunteers, officials, and photographers can properly identify you, please wear your bib on the front of your person in an unobstructed position. Please do not fold or tamper with your bib as the timing tag is adhered to the back. Your bib is also your ticket onto the bus, into the post-race food area at the end of the race. Do not lose your bib!

FALL EQUINOX RACE GUIDE COURSE Fall Equinox Half Marathon & 5 Mile is a beautiful race winding down the Cache La Poudre Canyon next to the rushing river and among the season’s changing colors. Make sure to enjoy your race and take in the beauty of your surroundings! Safety is our Priority! - The road is not completely closed to traffic during the race, you must stay inside of the coned course. Runners outside of coned course are subject to disqualification. Please be alert and aware of oncoming traffic. Headphones/ear-buds are discouraged.

ELEVATION You can see the elevation map on the following page. This is a fast, downhill course with a total of 638 feet in elevation loss for the Half Marathon and 148 feet in the 5 Mile. If you are not used to the altitude be sure to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water the day leading up to the race.

STARTING LINE The Half Marathon starts at 7:00 am at the historic Mishawaka Amphitheatre. The 5 Mile also starts at 7:00 am at Gateway Natural Area. All runners and walkers will start at the same time. To help organize the starting line and prevent overcrowding on the course we will line runners up in groups based on your average race mile pace. Please pay attention to volunteers at the starting

SEPTEMBER 16, 2018 lines for direction as to where your pace group is lining up.

TIMING The races will be chip-timed using timing tags adhered to the back of your bib. Overall winners will be determined by gun time. If you plan to compete for the top spots, you will need to line up at the front of the start line. Please do not tamper with the timing chips, as they cannot be replaced once linked to your bib number.

NO LITTERING GEAR CHECK There will be a bag drop truck at the start of each race for any personal items you would like transported to the finish area. You will need to bring your own bag (that completely closes - zip or tie) and attach the bag tag from the bottom of your race bib with your name and phone # using the zip tie provided in your packet. Green Events is not responsible for any valuables or breakable items. Drop bags will be held in a secure area at the finish area for runners to retrieve. Any unclaimed bags will be donated to a local homeless shelter.

CLOTHING ON COURSE There are no drop spots located along the race courses. All clothing dropped along the course will be donated to a local homeless shelter. Leave all personal objects you do not want to run the entire race with in your car at the start of the race or prepare to carry it with you to the end of the race or put in your drop bag before the start of the race

AID STATIONS There will be five aid stations along the course for Half Marathon participants and two aid stations for 5 Mile participants. Aid Stations will be located at the following distances along the course (approximate): Half Marathon Aid Station #1: Mile 3.5 Half Marathon Aid Station #2: Mile 5.5 Half Marathon Aid Station#3: Mile 8 Half Marathon Aid Station #4: Mile 9.5 Half Marathon Aid Station #5: Mile 11 5 Mile Aid Station #1: Mile 1.5 5 Mile Aid Station #2: Mile 3 Each aid station will have water, Tri-berry Nuun electrolyte drink, first aid supplies, and communication to the finish & EMS. Portalets will be available at each aid stations. Please carry your own gels/ calories & dispose of trash at aid stations.

TIME LIMIT All participants have 3 hours and 15 minutes to finish the race. This is an average pace of 14:53 per mile for the half marathon. Due to course logistics, safety concerns & course support participants should plan on finishing no later than 10:15 am. Participants who have not reached the finish area in this amount of time will be picked up by the sweep vehicle or choose to become a pedestrian and finish the race. The finish line will remain open until 12:00am.

RACE FINISH Both races finish at the bottom of Poudre Canyon about a half mile west of Ted’s Place. Runners will take a right turn off of Poudre Canyon Road onto private farm land, where the finish and post-race party will be located. At the finish, all participants will be handed a finisher’s pint glass to use for water or beer!

FALL EQUINOX RACE GUIDE POST-RACE FOOD At the finish line there will be food & drinks for all runners. Help yourself to oranges, bananas, Consulo’s breakfast burritos, Lamar donuts, Eldorado Springs vitamin water, Morning Fresh Dairy chocolate milk & more!

STROLLERS & DOGS Due to the busing and the large number of runners, dogs and strollers are not allowed in the race.

SPECTATOR PARKING AT FINISH

Both the Half Marathon & 5 Mile races are point-to-point courses through the Poudre River Canyon. Due to lack of parking at both the start & finish areas & our efforts to further Green Events goal of hosting environmental friendly races, participants must ride an event provided bus to the start of either race. Participants arriving to the starting areas in a vehicle will be disqualified from the event.

There is limited parking at the finish area for $10 (cash only) a car. If you plan to drive please arrive by 7:00 am, before runners start to finish.

There will be no parking along Hwy 14 during the event. Carpooling is encouraged.

Only registered runners will be allowed on buses to the starting areas, your race bib is your bus pass. Do not leave anything on the bus as not all buses will be returning to the finish line. There will be a bag drop truck at each start area for your personal items. Do not be late. The buses leave on time and will not wait for runners.

SPECTATOR BUSING Spectators are encouraged to come to the finish area of the event to celebrate with their friends & family. However, due to lack of parking at the finish area spectators are encouraged to ride an event provided bus to the finish area. Free busing for spectators will be provided to & from the finish area from Poudre High School. POST-RACE BUSING Stay to enjoy the post race food & beverages, but when you are ready to head home board an event provided bus to return to you car. Buses will pick participants up just past the finish area on Highway 14 starting at 8:00am and leaving every half-hour from then until 12:00pm.

PRE-RACE DAY

At Green Events, our mission is to provide premier athletic events in an environmental, social and economic sustainable manner. We work to minimize waste at our events and divert as much event related waste away from the landfill and return it back to the market place through recycling or back to nature through composting. Help us outside of the events by avoiding the purchase of products that cannot be recycled or composted & being conscious of properly disposing of waste.

TIMING SPECIFICS BEFORE THE RACE •

Your timing chip is attached to the back of your race bib.

You do not have to do anything except wear the proper race bib.

Do not fold your bib.

If you signed up for the Half Marathon but are changing to the 5 Mile or vice versa you must get a new bib at packet pickup.

NO CHIP = NO TIME

AFTER THE RACE •

Your timing chip is disposable and may be thrown away or left on your bib for you to keep.

Overall award times will be based on gun time. If you plan to compete for the top spots, you will need to line up at the front of the start line.

Stick around for awards at approximately 8:45 am for the 5 Mile and 9:45 am for the Half Marathon.

RESULT ERRORS •

All information including name spelling, gender, age, and race distance is taken directly from online registration forms.

If any error are spotted please report it to the volunteers at the registration table.

At the event we will have zero waste stations with volunteers helping sort your trash into recyclable items, compostable items, and landfill items.

Recyclable items at the Fall Equinox event will include race packets, cardboard, beer cups, aluminum foil, and paper.

Landfill items at the Fall Equinox event are limited but may include food wrappers brought from home and small miscellaneous items.

Compostable items at the Fall Equinox event will include oranges, bananas, donuts, breakfast burritos, and other food scraps.

POST-RACE INFO RACE RESULTS Race results will be posted on our green results board next to the finishers arch after you finish. Each runner will receive an email on Sunday afternoon with their results. They will also be available later that day on the Equinox website. We will also post them on Facebook and send them in the post-race email a few days after the race. RACE PHOTOS Photographers will be along both race courses and at the finish area taking photos. We are giving free photo downloads to all runners! Event photos will be posted on facebook with a link to search for your individual photos. We will also send out the link in the post-race email after the race. MEDALS All Half Marathon finishers will receive a finishers medal. Medals will be handed out to the runners, by volunteers, once they cross the finish line. AWARDS The award ceremonies will take place at approximately 9:00 am for the 5 Mile and

9:45 AM for the Half Marathon. Times will very depending on how long it takes to get accurate results for all age groups. Awards may not be picked up before the award ceremony. If you are unable to stay for the award ceremony, awards will be available for pick up at Fort Collins Runners Roost the following Wednesday. LOST & FOUND Any lost & found items found during the event will be available at the awards table. We will hold any valuable lost items for a week after the race. Contact info@greeneventsco.com for lost items. Any clothing discarded along the course will be donated or thrown away. POST-RACE SURVEY A post-race survey will be included in the post-race email sent a few days after the race. It would be appreciated if you took 5-10 minutes to complete the short survey. The survey is used to measure the success of the event and to make improvements on our future events. We love hearing from our runners and want to do all we can to make our events better and better every year.
