New Year in Thailand

Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai & Phuket

27 DEC—10 JAN THU—THU GOLF COURSES Santiburi is the best course in Chiang Rai and one of the best in Thailand. Owned by the Singha Beer family, it is a no expense spared set up. A perfect opener. Highlands Set in the hills North of Chiang Mai, surrounded by a national park, this is one of Thailand’s real jewels. Royal Chiang Mai is one of the traditional Thai courses. Lots of mounding and strategically placed bunkers. Blue Canyon in Phuket is one of the best resorts in Asia. The two courses Lakes & Canyon are superb and the Canyon has hosted many pro tournaments including the Johnny Walker with Tiger Woods. We’ll be playing both courses.

This will be our 6th year in Thailand for the New Year's Eve trip. Because there simply isn’t anywhere with better weather, hotels, cuisine and golf courses. But this year we are going to do a 3 centre trip—1 week in the North at Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and then 1 week on the beach in Phuket. Because not everyone can get away for the full 14 nights we have designed the trip so that you could arrive a couple of days late or leave a day early and not miss the tournament. For this trip it is essential to get your flights booked as soon as possible. Call the office for assistance. On arrival in Bangkok we connect you to the next available flight to Chiang Rai where we check into the Meridien on the Mae Kok River. 3 Nights enjoying the night market and the fabulous Santiburi golf club before making the transfer to The Chedi in Chiang Mai. An absolutely superb hotel on the banks of the river and just 5 mins walk to the most famous Night Market in Thailand where you can eat and shop in the cool evening air. We will be playing 2 rounds of golf there at Royal Chiang Mai and CM Highlands courses. We can book you plenty of optional golf if you wish. NEW YEARS EVE PARTY The Chedi will host the New Year’s Eve party outdoors sitting on the banks of the river with live music and dancing until dawn and watching the most spectacular fireworks display in town.

Phuket Once we have recovered we will soon be on a direct flight to Phuket and the Indigo Pearl on the beach. This a lovely hotel on Nai Yang Beach. Although secluded behind a wall of casuarinas you just nip through the gate and you are on the most beautiful beach with great seafood restaurants with tables on the sand.

If you weren’t in a hurry to get back you could always join us in Cambodia for 5 or 6 nights and see the famous temple at the start of Thai Two. See over page for details.

HOTELS Le Meridien Chiang Rai is a 5 star riverside hotel set in beautiful tropical gardens just a couple of mins by Tuk Tuk from the Night Market. The rooms at 57 sq m are spacious and well equipped as you would expect. The Chedi, Chiang Mai is a 5 star hotel right on the banks of the Mae Ping river. All 84 rooms have TV s, telephone, air con, balconies with stunning views and separate bath & showers . The Chedi is THE place to stay. www.ghmhotels.com Indigo Pearl Phuket is one of Phuket’s best kept secrets. Themed on a Tin Mine it is trendy but very comfortable. The normal Suites are very expensive at this time, so we have booked standard rooms. With 3 pools in extensive gardens just step outside the gate and you are on the fabulous white sand Nai Yang Beach with its plethora of seafood restaurants, bars and massage at a fraction of the hotel prices.

Laguna is one of the oldest courses in Phuket and is on their equivalent of the Wentworth estate. Beautiful properties surrounding a beautifully manicured course. NB: No buggies on Canyon & Laguna

Angkor Wat & Hua Hin Cambodia & Thailand

HOTELS The Sofitel Royal Angkor is just 12 years old but looks as though it was built in another colonial era. Set in amidst some magnificent gardens it exudes French charm and style. There are 2 room types – superior and deluxe. All rooms have superb garden and/or pool views. The deluxe are larger with more spacious bathrooms. We would recommend the upgrade. Very convenient to the temples and has its own golf course. 10 mins from the airport. There are 6 restaurants inc Mohout's Dream, the Angkor Spa. www.sofitel.com

Once again we will be running two trips to Thailand in 2008. The first was only to Hua Hin for New Year, the second will be Siem Reap in Cambodia – home to Angkor Wat – for 5 nights and then down to Hua Hin for 9 nights. We fly back down to Bangkok and transfer by luxury coach to Hua Hin and the Dusit Polo Resort where we will spend the remaining 9 nights on the beach on both trips. All the main tournament rounds will be in Hua Hin.

Thailand a la Carte This will enable you to pick and mix your trip. If you fancy a longer break you can start on Thailand 1 at New Year and then go to Cambodia for 5 nights at the start of Thailand 2. Or you could come back to Hua Hin and play in the second tournament week there. Alternatively you could fly to Bangkok and go straight to Hua Hin on 17th Jan and then go to Vietnam on 29th Jan for as long as you like. In other words the trips comprise 4 modules and you can take as many or as few as you like. You can book your own flight to Bangkok or we can do it for you. If you need any advice just let us know. Once in BKK we will organise your flight to Cambodia which is included. This trip is designed for golfers and nongolfers alike as we play golf only every other day. If you wish to extend this holiday we will provide you with all the assistance you need. In Siem Reap we stay at the fabulous Sofitel Royal Angkor on the edge of town. It is just a short ride in a tuk tuk to town where there is a wonderful night market with restaurants and bars and great entertainment. The highlight of this tour will be a visit to one of the eight wonders of the ancient world – The Temple of Angkor. Set in a huge mahogany forest the Hindu Temple is testimony to the fabulous wealth of Oriental religions of the period. Purely a place of worship and learning this huge temple complex

housed only a few priests. Not far away The Potheekra, Angkor and Angkor Lakes courses are some of the finest new developments we have seen anywhere. Hua Hin is on the beach and we are returning to the luxury Dusit Polo Resort which has become our home for the second half of the Thailand tour. We again provide a regular free shuttle into town for the shopping, seafood restaurants and nightlife. Every year the town becomes more cosmopolitan though the atmosphere is still much more refined than in Patong. In the bars you can hear yourself speak and the old courtesies prevail. Although the sea does not have the azure blue of Phuket, Hua Hin is better in every other respect. If you have never played golf in Thailand you are in for a treat. All you do is hit the ball, your little caddy does the rest and will even mop your brow while you have a drink between holes. In Hua Hin we will be playing Lake View, Springfield twice and the new Black Mountain. The courses are fantastic and the price of everything is so cheap that you hardly spend once you are there. Of course if you want more golf it is easy to arrange and excellent value. After Thailand Two we will be heading off to Vietnam for 14 nights. If you fly Thai Airways the additional cost of flying on to Saigon is only £100 or so. Why not take a month in the Far East. Once you are there it is really excellent value.

The Dusit Thani Hua Hin is a 5* seaside resort. The rooms are equipped with TV, telephone, hairdryers, mini bar, safe and all have balconies. Everything you would expect from a top class hotel is here - 5 restaurants, 3 bars, 2 superb pools alongside a natural lake and all on the beach. There is riding and tennis. www.dusit.com

GOLF COURSES Angkor GC is a superb Nick Faldo design, close to town. Beautifully maintained and run it is a real test of accurate driving. Phokeethra Just 20 mins from Angkor Wat, Cambodia’s first championship golf course. Wide fairways and well defended greens. Angkor Lakes as its name implies has a lot of water but also wide fairways. Banyan is Hua Hin’s newest course by one of Thailand's best course design companies. It offers one of the best challenges in Hua Hin with spectacular views. Carts Inc Springfield a Nicklaus design considered one of his best. Helpful caddies makes this course a pleasure to play even if good scoring is difficult. Black Mountain was built to full USGA specs and has now hosted an Asian Tour event. A must on any itinerary. Great location and some real risk and reward holes.

Saigon, Dalat & Hoi An South Vietnam

29 JAN—13 FEB TUE—WED deco style. It’s a step back in time but with with wonderful service. . Victoria Hoi An is located on a huge beach just 10 mins from the ancient fishing village of Hoi An. In this small 80 room hotel we have reserved only beach front rooms. It is a very friendly 4 star hotel just 5 mins away from the golf courses. A beautiful place to unwind and perfect for exploring Hoi An.

GOLF COURSES Long Than is about 1 hour drive from Saigon but it is worth it. Saigon’s most prestigious resort. Lots of water on two beautiful courses. Dalat is an old style parkland course close to the hotel. Undulating and picturesque. We play two rounds here. We've been to the South and last year we visited the North, but in 2013 we are taking the best of both. A mixture of hustle and bustle in Saigon, cool mountain air in Dalat and sea breezes in Hoi An. It is over 35 years since the last Huey took off from the roof of the American embassy with all those harrowing scenes of desperate people trying to get aboard. Vietnam disappeared behind a bamboo curtain under a strict Maoist regime. But just like China they have begun to emerge and little by little the ideology is being discarded. A sure sign that there will be no turning back from a capitalist path is the proliferation of golf courses. Our tour will show you the best of them as well as the history and culture of this wonderful country. We start the tour with 3 nights at the 5* Intercontinental in Saigon where we will play at Long Than GC. We will visit the famous Cu Chi tunnels where the Viet Cong hid underground emerging to deliver devastating attacks only to disappear as quickly. If you haven't been to Saigon before then you can easily have an additional day or two. It's a thrilling city. We then take a 40 min flight to the beautiful mountain city of Dalat for four nights. The cool climate will be a welcome relief from Saigon and the Dalat Palace a welcoming host. The golf course is superb as are the restaurants. The market town is full of colour and gives a real insight to a city untouched by war. From there we fly North to Danang. This was a very popular venue in 2012. Our hotel, The Victoria, is right on the beach and the South China Sea breaks onto the white sands right in front of our deluxe beach front hotel rooms. The hotel is just a short 15 min drive from the magical little town of Hoi An

with its Chinese lanterns, wonderful food and excellent shopping. It is a World Heritage site. But best of all we are just 10 mins form two of Vietnam's top courses. The Montgomerie Links and the Danang Golf Club designed by Greg Norman. Two totally contrasting courses side by side. Vietnam is just a couple of hundred miles from Thailand but it might be on another continent. The food is superb and the people very friendly but 30 years of communism have left them behind, and there is a tremendous desire to catch up. The country still sports the red flags and the scars of the old communist smoke stack industries are everywhere. This is a fascinating insight to a fast disappearing world. In a few years Vietnam will resemble any other oriental country, but right now it is all motorcycles, conical hats and red flags. Be prepared to have your eyes widened.

HOTELS The Intercontinental is 5 star luxury in the heart of Saigon. A short walk from all the sights with shopping streets, restaurants and bars close by. There is a nice swimming pool to get away from the city heat. Dalat Palace is a small hotel perched on the hill overlooking the lake. Most of the large rooms have been left in their 30’s art

Montgomerie Links is one of two new courses between Danang and Hoi An. Wide fairways and large bunkers make this a typical Monty course. A very fair course for all levels. Danang Golf is a superb links by Greg Norman. The holes run down to the sea and make perfect use the natural links terrain. Reminiscent of a Scottish course with sun. Loose shots will be punished here.

Cape Town & The Garden Route South Africa

24 FEB—12 MAR SAT—TUE

Hyatt Oubaai is perched on top of the cliffs above the Indian Ocean with Ernie’s superb course behind. Another sumptuous hotel of the Hyatt standard. Fancourt is recognised as SA’s no 1 golf resort with 4 courses, including the famous Links. All set in the most beautiful surroundings with the Outenique Mts as backdrop, It is an idyllic resort which has a well stocked Proshop, superb practice facilities, 3 restaurants and a lovely clubhouse bar.

GOLF COURSES In addition to its famous vineyards the Western Cape now has some outstanding golf courses. In 2011 we did a superb tours there; first to Cape Town and Hermanus and then along the Garden Route to George. In 2013 we start at The Vineyard in Cape Town, before moving to Arabella at Hermanus before moving down the Garden Route to George and the Hyatt Oubaai and finally to Fancourt on a superb 16 night tour. Although quite an expensive tour SA is still great value for shopping and restaurants when you get there. Cape Town, built around Table Mountain, has so much to offer. The V & A Waterfront development is a must visit spot as is the revolving cable car ride up the mountain. A drive down the coast to Chapman’s Peak and then across the peninsular to Simonstown to see the penguins is memorable. From our base at The Vineyard in Newlands we can easily drive down to Cape Point or visit the Kirstenbosch Gardens. If you don’t want to venture far from in the evening , you can dine in the hotel’s two superb restaurants. There are several excellent restaurants 3 mins walk away. From there we again visit Arabella near Hermanus. There are no whales at this time of year but the golf course is one of SA’s finest and the hotel and spa will put you in the perfect frame of mind. After 4 nights in Hermanus we get into our cars and drive across the Little Karoo to George and check into the Hyatt Oubaai, home to the famous Ernie Els course on top of the cliffs.

Finally we move up the road to Fancourt for our final 3 nights. This is truly a golfers paradise. Superb practice facilities alongside three of the best courses in SA. We will play the Montagu and Outeniqua but The Links will be offered as an optional extra round. You can fly non stop from Heathrow to Cape Town with BA, Virgin or SAA or from MAN, BHX, LGW via Frankfurt, Paris or Dubai. All of these airlines also fly back from Johannesburg. We would recommend flying from George to JNB and then home. We pick up our hire cars on arrival. If you don't wish to drive in South Africa we will have one or two minivans that will do all the driving for you. There will be a small supplement for this. Although there is quite a bit of driving on this trip it is all very easy on excellent roads. Pearl Valley and Erinvale are about 50 mins from The Vineyard and the drive to Arabella will take 90 mins. The other courses are no more than 15 mins from the hotel or on site. If you don't want to drive then we will chauffeur you.

HOTELS The Vineyard in Cape Town is a family run 4 star hotel in beautiful gardens at the foot of Table Mountain. A worthwhile upgrade are the Mountain facing rooms which have superb views from the large picture windows. Apart from the 2 excellent restaurants, the hotel bar has a wonderful atmosphere, and the leisure centre and pool area are perfect for unwinding after golf. The Western Cape & Spa is now 11 years old but its ultramodern design still looks fresh. A fabulous 5 star luxury hotel. The rooms are all equipped to the highest standards and the Acquabella Spa is in a class of its own. It is just a short drive to Hermanus.

Royal Cape is the traditional must play course in Cape Town. No longer enjoying an elevated status as it has been surpassed by the more modern layouts, it is still a classic parkland course. Am Am Erinvale has been a venue for the South African Open. Set on the gentle slopes of Mt Helderberg, the course has some simply spectacular views of the mountains and on out to sea. It is a great test of golf and has a lovely club atmosphere. Am Am Pearl Valley is just 7 years old but has already hosted the SA Open three times. The Jack Nicklaus layout in the shadow of the Hottentot Holland mountains, is definitely one of his finest achievements. Round 1. Arabella overlooks a lagoon and is a superb test of golf. This Peter Matkovich design will be the venue for an Am Am practice and Round 2. Oubaai, designed by Ernie Els, is “linksy” in feel, with few trees, and when the wind blows it is an excellent test. Outeniqua & Montagu are Fancourt’s original superbly manicured Gary Player designed courses. They flatter to deceive, which makes them hugely enjoyable even when not playing well. We finish on the iconic island green in front of the clubhouse. Nerves of steel will be required for the leaders. Rounds 3 & 4.

Abu Dhabi & Dubai UAE

Yas Links is the new kid on the UAE block but is surely destined to rival even the Majlis. Kyle Phillips (Kingsbarns, Dundonald) design and one of his best. Al Badia is one of the best of the new courses. Designed by R Trent Jones Jr there is plenty of water and well protected greens and an amazing clubhouse. Els Course, as it’s name implies is Ernie’s first course in UAE. Brilliant white sand bunkers are there to catch the wayward. Emirates, Majlis is head and shoulders above the rest. Home to the Dubai Classic. A fitting venue for the final round.

PRICE INCLUDES Our Middle East trip this year will be a two centre event incorporating Abu Dhabi for the first time in 8 years. The main reason for this can be summed up in 3 letters — YAS. This superb new links course complements the renowned National course to make Abu Dhabi a must visit golf destination. The Beach Towers is our hotel for the first 3 nights, right on a small creek and beach but also in town with a connecting doot to the Abu Dhabi shopping mall. Having played these two courses we then move to Dubai, stopping at Al Badia for a round of golf on the way. We return to our favourite Dubai hotel, the Al Bustan, for 5 nights playing at The Fire, The Els and finishing on the Majlis.

Funchal, Madeira, Portugal

Machio Bay, you will enjoy beautiful views of the rocky Atlantic coastline, making the course one of the most spectacular in Europe. Palheiro designed by renowned golf architect Cabell B. Robinson, this picturesque layout with year-round appeal takes full advantage of Madeira’s hilly terrain, with abrupt ridges and deep valleys providing a compelling challenge for even the most seasoned golfer. Play calls for a fair degree of accuracy – the contoured fairways and strategically placed bunkers guarding fast, undulating greens mean there’s little room for error. This is the first time Greencard has visited the Portuguese island of Madeira, known as the “Pearl of the Atlantic” and with its location off the North-West coast of Africa, Madeira benefits from a lovely year-round climate. The capital city of Funchal is a charming blend of the Madeiran culture and the new vibrancy from increased tourism, while around the island are natural landscapes of outstanding natural beauty. You are able to fly to Madeira from several regional airports throughout the UK. We will be staying at the five star Meliá Madeira Mare Resort and Spa. Boasting a spectacular seafront location with panoramic Atlantic ocean views the hotel offers direct access to the seaside promenade and pebble beach, yet is only 3 km from

GOLF COURSES

Our first trip to Denmark was in 1984. Then the only way was via luxury DFDS ferry overnight from Harwich to Esbjerg. Now you can fly to Billund from Edinburgh, Manchester, Stansted and London City. If you fly we will arrange hire cars or you can join the Greencard minibus. If you take your own car by ferry we will allow a discount and it will give you a chance to play the incomparable Esbjerg course. The Jutland peninsular is like a flatter Scotland; pine trees, heather, gorse and a sandy subsoil make it perfect golf terrain. We have chosen 5 of Denmark’s top courses for this trip and basing ourselves

in the pretty town of Silkeborg, built around beautiful lakes we will be right in the centre of things. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance of the hotel.

Lubker is Robert Trent Jones II at his very best. The heavily contoured greens and aprons provides a tough but fair test. Silkeborg, after a major refurb in 2007, Thomas Bjorn’s home club, is now one of the finest in the country. Holstebro is one of the top courses in Denmark. Winding through the pine forest each hole gives a sense of isolation. Lyngbygaard is a 27 hole course from the van Hagge design team (think Les Bordes). Precise iron play is a must. Stensballegaard is another from the van Hagge team with beautiful views over Horsens fjord.

GOLF COURSES Strandhill in the shadow of Mt Knocknarea, with the sea on two sides feels compact, but 100 ft dunes tell a different tale. Enniscrone was remodelled in 2002 and is now one of Ireland’s classic links. Rated no 11 its location is breathtaking. Murvagh, or Co Donegal, sits on a spit of dunes land with the sea on 3 sides. The kite surfers tell you all you need to know. Rosses Point, or Co Sligo, is rated 6th in Ireland and with good reason. In the shadow of Benbulben it has dunes, burns, bunkers and magnificent views.

PRICES INCLUDE Sligo in the NW corner of Ireland has some of the finest Irish links courses on its doorstep. The most famous of these is the Co Sligo club at Rosses Point, but Enniscrone and Co Donegal Club at Murvagh are both impressive links. Strandhill may be a little shorter but it has many admirers.

and Viva spa, which make for a perfect weekend break. Whilst the rooms are not large, they are well equipped with Sat TV, Free Wi Fi, free use of the Leisure Club and Free parking.

GOLF COURSES Alwoodley is MacKenzie & Colt, heath land & moorland, heather & gorse, subtlety & guile and a real pleasure to play. Moortown is another MacKenzie, and like its neighbour is a classic moorland course. Soft, springy fairways give perfect lies. Hosted the first UK Ryder Cup in 1929.

Alister MacKenzie was a Leeds doctor when he and Harry Colt went into partnership to design Alwoodley in 1907. He so enjoyed the process that he gave up practice and travelled the world stamping his mark on some of the finest courses in the world. Augusta National, Cypress Point, Lahinch and Royal Melbourne are some of his better known oeuvres. Although only a mediocre golfer he was a member of several clubs including Ilkley, Alwoodley and the R & A. But he was innovative in his designs, especially his use of bunkers and undulating greens which make his courses so easy on the eye. So following the success of 2012’s visit to Ganton, Fulford and Strensall we will be

repeating the 54 hole event before travelling North to Scotland. This time we will be starting at the impossibly picturesque Ilkley, then onto Yorkshire’s No 2—.at Alwoodley, before finishing at the classic moorland links Moortown Our choice of hotel, The Village, is mostly on location, being close to all the courses, and functional: De Vere has a very strong reputation in the Leisure industry and they have created an excellent brand.

HOTEL The Village in North Leeds is part of the De Vere group’s new concept of in-town leisure hotels. It has a superb gym, a 25 mt indoor pool, Victory pub, Verve restaurant

Ilkley is only 6,200 yds from the tips but its par 69 is well defended. The River Wharfe winds its way through Ilkley Moor and MacKenzie & Colt combined to create a course as pretty as the Moor itself.

If you finish the round early you can plsy the Portlaned course for free. Western Gailes is a classic Scottish links alongside the railway line. When the wind blows from the West this is a tough links. Dundonald is the new kid on the block. The Kent Coast, Sandwich UK

ground. It has three loops of 9—Shore, Dunes & Himlayas. Since its resurrection it has some of the best greens on the Coast . Royal Cinque Ports or Deal as it is often known hosted The Open in 1909 & 1920. A classic Out and Back links course with the ever present sound of the waves crashing on the pebble beach.

In the 32 years of Greencard’s existence we have never played the Kent Coast, in spite of the fact that it is where I grew up and learned my golf. This was because there has never been any suitable accommodation. All that has changed with the marvellous renovation of the derelict clubhouse at Prince’s to become The Lodge. Princes sits on the same links land as its two illustrious neighbours: Royal St Georges and Royal Cinque Ports. Since the decision was taken to reinvest in Princes it has risen from the ashes to the point where the Amateur Championship will be played there in 2013. These three magical courses have all hosted The Open and we will be playing them all.

This event is designed so that you can then cross the Channel and play in our Royal Belgium event based in magical Bruges.

HOTEL The Lodge at Princes overlooks the course on one side and the sea on the other with views over to Ramsgate. It’s combination of rooms, apartments and suites give it 38 rooms. With only 12 standard rooms we would need to pair people up in the apartments which would be ideal for 2 singles or couples travelling together. It also has the renowned Brasserie restaurant and a bar.

GOLF COURSES Princes was completely redesigned after WWII when it was used as military training

Royal St George’s needs no introduction. 14 times Open host with some illustrious winners—Harry Varden, J H Taylor, Walter Hagen, Henry Cotton, Bobby Locke, Sandy Lyle, Greg Norman and of course Darren Clarke. So much history to absorb and so we will have dinner in the Clubhouse.

Naples Beach, Florida USA

7 OCT—17 OCT MON—THU GOLF COURSES Colliers Reserve is an Arthur Hills masterpiece in a perfect setting in North Naples. The course blends in beautifully with the surrounding scenery. Flamingo Island is a mature Trent Jones Sr.course. Not too tough from the Whites but as with all his courses a pleasure from every tee. Raptor Bay is a Ray Floyd design that has plenty of water but also the odd bald eagle . An Audubon nature reserve. Old Corkscrew is a Jack Nicklaus signature course which blends totally with nature. The Old Corkscrew river adds to the challenge.

In all the years we have been running Greencard we have never been to Florida. It’s time to make amends. Naples Beach on the Gulf Coast is on the southernmost tip. White sand beaches run along the length of this coast and there are literally hundreds of golf courses, more per capita than anywhere else in the world. Naples is an upmarket town that has excellent shopping and some superb restaurants. Take a stroll down 5th Avenue South in Old Naples for a spot of people watching or head off to Naples Outlet Center for some name brand shopping at a discount. Eating out can be impossibly chic at some beautiful waterfront restaurants, watching the sunset over the Gulf whilst tucking in to your lobster and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc or just enjoy a good ol’ American steak at any number excellent restaurants. Although you can pay a small fortune to dine in Naples there are just too many places to eat out that prices suit all wallets. Just a short drive to the south is the famous Florida Everglades national park where you can spend a day photographing the wildlife and watching alligators sunbathing in the warm Florida sun. No holiday is complete without an Air Boat ride. But above all we are here for the golf and during our 10 day stay we will have 7 days of organised golf and of course you can play more if you wish. It hasn’t been possible to book all the golf this far out as most courses don’t open their books more than 1 year in advance but below is a selection of the courses we hope to be playing.

Choosing a hotel is always tricky when again there is such a wide choice. But we felt the Waldorf Astoria fits our requirements like a glove. Waldorf is the upmarket end of the Hilton chain, and this hotel, previously the Naples Grande, is being upgraded all the time now that it is in the Waldorf brand. The levels of service are excellent and although not right on the beach there is a golf cart shuttle service to take you the 800 mts. It is just 3 miles from 5th Ave South.

TPC Treviso. Is the full package that one expects at TPC courses. Designed by Arthur Hills and Hal Sutton it’s a must play in the Naples area. . Waldorf Astoria is a Ress Jones classic, rated in the US top 100.and only open to residents. Designed round a 30 acre lake it is one of the best in Florida. Arrowhead was voted Best Public course in SW Florida in both 2010 and 2012. Don’t confuse this with your local municipal.

Fly into Ft Myers (45kms), Ft Lauderdale or Miami (150 kms) both straight down the Interstate.

HOTEL The Waldorf Astoria is one of the grand old dames of Naples having started life as The Registry. The hotel has 474 rooms, bungalows and suites all in a property in 10 hectares of beachfront with two pools. The bathrooms all have tubs and walk in showers. There are two restaurant and two bars plus the Golden Door Spa and a fitness centre. The Hotel is rated 5 Diamond, but we would prefer to rate it an excellent 4* with superb service.

Mustang is the sister of Flamingo Island, designed by Lee Trevino it unsurprisingly favours a fade! Naples Beach. Ron Garl redesigned this Naples course so well it became home to the PGA South Florida Open.

A road and railway spoil the aesthetics but not the course. Royal Latem is another centurion that has hosted 3 Belgium Opens. A short but very technical and beautifully maintained parkland course. Damme G & CC is a very friendly and welcoming club. A wonderful walk in wetlands known as the “polder” (fens). Superb fairways and greens,
