Breakout Session Tracks Breakout sessions will focus on environmental programs that are designed primarily to save money. 1. Existing Buildings Learn more about how renovating green can have a positive financial impact on your bottom line. Bringing an existing building up to green code will reduce operating costs, enhance asset value and profits, improve employee productivity and satisfaction, optimize life-cycle economic performance and improve air, thermal, and acoustic environments. 2. Renewable Energy, Technology, and Energy Conservation Technology is changing and new, renewable products are coming to market. Subject matter experts will provide an overview of the latest data and information in renewable energy and the products that are coming to market to support renewable energy use. 3. Clean Water and Water Conservation Sessions will cover specific strategies focused on new technologies targeting both mitigation and adaptation from xeriscaping to rain harvesting to grey water usage. Facility managers can learn first-hand the phases of conducting water audits, including analyzing your facility’s water and cost-savings potential. 4. Waste Minimization, Management, Reuse of Materials, and Recycling Industry experts will focus on the current trends, issues and opportunities facing both the private and public sectors. Topics will include collection and disposal and the 3R’s to save your organization money. 5. Logistics—Greening Your Plant, Warehouse, and Fleet Reduce energy, save money. These breakout sessions will provide insight on how to set a realistic logistics greening agenda for your facility, fleet, warehouse or plant while reducing expenses to save money. 6. Supply Chain Management Environmental impacts within office buildings include: paper usage; greenhouse gas emissions from electric power, air travel, commuting and deliveries; waste from offices, shipping, and cafeterias; internal water usage; use of chemicals in manufacturing processes; and disposal of electronics. A green SCM policy will save money, reduce harmful environmental impacts and improve worker safety. 2
