Affordable Housing: Creating Market-Based Incentives for Housing That is Affordable

In this effort, GCAA hosted four affordable housing subcommittee meetings and a special topic “Affordable Housing Government Affairs Meeting” Worked with Charlotte Family Housing to create a master lease for their clients Hosted the Lotus Campaign for three meetings: Subcommittee, GCAA Board and Management Companies Worked with National League of Cities to revise the VASH tax credit idea Participated on the “Vote Yes for Bonds Campaign” to increase Housing Trust Fund Bonds to $50 million

Service Animals/Criminalize “Fake” Service Animals • •

Held a Special Topic “Service Animals Government Affairs Meeting” Included Service Animals topic as lobbying discussion points for both Capital Lobbying Meetings (NAA)

Political Action Committee (PAC) • • •

Raised $20,000 in PAC Contributions for the AANC and NAA PACs Held a PAC Fundraising Banquet in conjunction with PSC and the Reverse Tradeshow Held a PAC luncheon with industry leaders and special NAA PAC expert guest

EDUCATION 2018 NAAEI Credential Classes

In 2018, nearly 98 students attended NAAEI credential classes including CAPS, CAM, CAMT, NALP and CAS at the GCAA. The GCAA made a donation to the GCAA Education Foundation of $10,026 which represented 14% of the annual credential class’ net income.

GCAA Education Foundation

The GCAA Education Foundation (GCAAEF) raised a total of $4,576 in 2018 from the Outreach Committee’s Bowling Tournament, and the annual Golf Tournament’s silent auction. These funds provide training scholarships for industry professionals. The GCAAEF awarded five scholarships for member employees to attend CAM, CAPS and CAMT credential classes in 2018.
