1. Buying Livestock through Grasstec Ltd. Preparation (1) Contact directly Grasstec Ltd. This can be done through the request form on this website, by email or by phone. (2) One of our team will then call you back to discuss your requirements in detail. During this discussion we endeavour to find out as much as possible about you farm and dairy system to ensure that your new stock compliment the system. Criteria:

Our team are experienced in dealing with system conversions, for example high input indoor system to block calving grass based. We draw on this experience to make sure you get the stock you need. In some instances a member of our team visits you on your farm to see exactly your systems and type of animal required.

a. Through our network of clients and contacts, we identify the suitable stock for sale. It is our policy to indentify twice the number of animals required if possible. This allows you to have choice in your selection. We gather all relevant information including; i. Individual animal performance reports where available – mainly milk recording, calving details & EBI data ii. Herd profile reports for herd performance, calving pattern, EBI, disease testing/vaccination program etc. iii. Other detail on the farm including, feeding regime, stocking rate. etc.

Stock Selection  Once potential animals are identified Grasstec Ltd arrange for viewing of these animals by the buyer. We collect the buyer from the airport or ferry and plan route to the source farms. o We arrange with the seller to have the offered animals separate from other animals on the farm – this avoids confusion in the selection process on the day o We identify and record the details of the selected animals to ensure that the stock you have chosen are the stock you get o We are strong in identifying any problem animal or any animal not fitting the criteria o We negotiate the final price and terms of sale in conjunction with the buyer and seller. o Once a sale is agreed we then plan for the payment, movement and export and of the animals. Movement and Export of the Animals  The exportation of animals is governed by strict rules as set out by the Irish and UK agriculture departments.  Arrange for appropriate disease testing of the stock well in advance of the proposed date for movement  On the day of movement we arrange for:  An approved centre of export to facilitate inspection of the animals and document by qualified department of agriculture personnel.  Collection & delivery to an approved centre for export  Collection from the approved centre and delivery to the buyers farm.  A member of our team is present during this process to make sure all goes to plan.  After delivery, we keep contact with the buyers to ensure all is in order.

2. Selling Livestock through Grasstec Ltd. for Export Preparation  If you have stock for sale please complete the appropriate form on this website or contact us directly by email or phone.  We will arrange a visit to your farm to view the stock offered. While this gives us an appreciation of the quality of the stock we also advise how best present the stock when being viewed by the buyer.  The farm visit also provides an opportunity to discuss the price of the stock. As the seller, you set the sale price, and it is up to us to provide a buyer at the price you want.

Stock Selection  Once a potential buyer is identified we arrange to bring them to your farm to view the stock.  If a deal is done we record all the details of the sale including the stock identification numbers and any other agreements as part of the deal

Movement and Export of the Animals  All you have to do is arrange for the appropriate TB and brucellosis (if necessary) testing to take place. We arrange for collection of the animals from your farm, and arrange for all additional arrangements necessary for stock movement and exportation.  Payment for the animals is guaranteed by Grasstec Dairy Solutions and is made before the animals leave your farm.
