The big event for all of us Porschephiles this year was the inaugural Porsche Werks Reunion. And from what I saw it did not fail to please. The Porsche Club of America hosted this new event. Over 500 Porsches were on display throughout this grounds of the Rancho Cañada Golf Club in Carmel Valley. I overhead that an additional 200 Porsches were denied access to the car corral because of concerns as to how well the larger number of vehicles could be managed. Most Porsche owner’s who didn't participate in having their cars judged also parked on the lawn as well in the Porsche only Corral. As far as the eye could see, nothing but Porsche. From vintage to modern, from street to track cars, it was an awesome display of Stuttgart's finest engineering . I’m sure next year the event will plan on hosting a much larger crowd of attendees and Porsches.

Cars from such collectors as Jerry Seinfeld, Magnus Walker, Bruce Canepa, and the Ingram family displayed some of less typical Porsches. This is the same venue that hosted the Legends of the Autobahn last year. But the energy and excited of this Porsche exclusive event dwarfed what I experienced at the previous year’s event when Porsche was only one of four German marques represented there. Our Golden Empire Region was well represented at this years Werks. Ken Keenan entered his gorgeous Guards Red 944 Cabriolet for judging. And refused the judges request to raise the top for showing. He stated “NO, This is how I drive it and this is how I want it judged.” Way to go Ken ! That’s the ole GEM spirit ! And Magnus Walker didn't seem to mind at all that the 944’s top was down either.

Hey what’s that top doing down on that Ken’s new Porsche Pal, Magnus ! car mister ? It really does look good down

Charee requested that I not take a picture with her “Blue Shoe” showing. So please, no one look :)

Pat and Betsy was also hard at work with Q-Tips in hand as they Clean, Polished, and Prepped their stunning 19731/2 911 T Targa for the judges that Friday. Late in the production run of 1973, Porsche installed the more advanced Bosch K-Jetronic (CIS) fuel injection system into the 911 models. Often referred to as 1973 1/2 , these T models are actually the strongest T models ever built. These cars have become quite collectable with their bulletproof fuel system.

Judgment day comes hard and swift for the Wadmans, but the they prevail with a First Place Win! Participants will spend hours on last-minute touch ups, cleaning paint, and polishing chrome. 15
