Amitav Panda Amitav overlooks a highly skilled team of housekeeping associates that make sure each of our rooms look nothing less than expected. On an average day, a housekeeping associate roughly makes 60-70 beds that makes it 750 beds a month. This is 25 times more than what a normal individual does at home.

Meet Gourish – the man responsible for managing all aspects of maintenance and repair. From treating 10,95,00,000 litres of grey water to ensuring guest buggies cover 43,800km of emission free travel in a year.

The deep copper and bronze sculpture seen at the Porte CochĂŠre is a symbol of protection, and healing represented by a mother and child. Just like the holy Tulsi welcoming each guest in homes seen in villages. The mother and child sit on a silent fountain pool enjoying gentle ripples of water, whispering to each other about the arrival of each and every guest.

Did you know that the resort’s baroque style architectural high roof consists of approximately 1,000,000 roof tiles.

The biggest water feature in the palace, the outdoor swimming pool is designed to look and feel as the temple bath area of the palace. The stone used around the pool area is a type of granite called sadarhalli and the bottom of the pool is built using slate, which is a natural antislip stone.

This bell is a reminder to everyone that once in a while, you need to pause, take a deep breath and enjoy what life has to offer.

When you hear the bell ring, it is our calling to ensure you do not miss the blazing sun set for the day. Gather around our chapel every evening to witness natures’ farewell to the day and greetings for the night.

Our chapel has two stories of its origin. Legend has it down as a chapel built by the local fishermen as a place for worship. But after the plague of the mid 17th century, it was abandoned which lead for its destruction. However historians have a different story to tell. They believe that this Chapel was built in 1613 by Gonsalo Pinto da Fonseca when Bambolim was declared as a separate parish. This chapel lost its prominence in 1616 when a new church was built on Orth de Vigar or Padigaracho Dongor. Our Lady of Belem, Confraria Nossa Senhora De Belem church which is now located on the hill, regularly sees people coming in for Sunday Mass. Until the hotel was built, fishermen still used this place as a safe house to store their nets or other fishing equipment for safekeeping under God’s protection. Till date, locals come to pray at this chapel.

Terrazzo flooring is unique system of tilling that was used in ancient India. Featuring across the resort, this floor style is similar to mosaic tiles, however Terrazo uses rectangular tile biscuits.

Each rectangular piece has been hand placed therefore causing some unique imperfections across the floors.

17th Century Chapel

HARLEY DAVIDSON RIDES TO GRAND HYATT GOA

The resort recently hosted the Harley Davidson Owner’s Group Goa and Bangalore Chapter for a breakfast ride.

The exhilarating group ride kicked off at the Harley Davidson showroom in Caranzalem during the wee hours of Sunday morning. Over 70 enthusiastic riders saddled up on their Harley Davidsons rode through the historic and scenic routes of Old Goa along with their pillion riders exploring the heritage sites within the area.

Finally culminating the ride at Grand Hyatt Goa, bikers; both men and women roared into the Porte Cochere of the hotel firing up their mean machines as they headed for a healthy breakfast spread.

Travel logs, experiences, scenic routes, riding safety instructions and a whole lot of laughs were shared over coffee and wholesome treats before the riders took off for the day.
