Youth FX is excited to start its fourth year of summer programming in Albany's South End, we have 20 students this year and look forward to the films that they will be creating together. If you didn’t already know about the program, Youth FX is an intensive and hands-on six week summer program, which teaches teens about the digital filmmaking process from start to finish. Focusing on visual storytelling, artistic expression and performance, participants create digital short films in various genres, including documentary and short narrative fiction.Youth FX participants work with experienced local filmmakers and media artists to learn the various aspects of digital video production such as: cinematography, editing, sound, and lighting. Youth FX participants engage in their communities by creating documentary and short-fiction films that reflect their understanding and vision of the world around them.  The excitement this year comes from Seeds Of Hope, a short documentary film produced by youth filmmakers from Albany’s Youth FX program that has been picked as a finalist for Project VoiceScape, a national showcase for emerging teen artists curated by the PBS series POV and Adobe Youth Voices. Films produced by Youth FX were also recently selected to air on WMHT’s locally produced TvFilm series and at the Ballston Spa International Film Festival. The Third Rail will also be airing on WMHT (channel 11) on Sunday, July 10th @ 10:30pm. Some new additions to this upcoming season include Annie Leue, a former Youth FX participant, now studying graphic design and media arts at SUNY Fredonia, who will be filing in for the Youth FX Assistant Director until August.  Youth FX is also honored to be working with WMHT studios to provide hands on workshops in chroma key green screen techniques and  will be visiting the cutting edge media arts facilities at EMPAC in Troy. Please become a fan of Youth FX on Facebook to keep up with what were doing this summer!
