Dr. Schwab is a board-certified nephrologist and internist. In 2006, he was appointed executive dean for the UTHSC College of Medicine. He was appointed interim chancellor of UTHSC in 2009 and in 2010, was named chancellor of UTHSC, which is home to six doctoral health science colleges – Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy, as well as some of the state’s largest multispecialty faculty practice groups.
As CEO of Mays and Schnapp Pain Clinic and Rehabilitation Center, Schnapp develops business strategies and manages company operations and growth, overseeing a staff of 55+ including multiple medical providers and support across clinical operations, physical therapy, and an ambulatory surgery center. As an attorney, he spent seven years practicing complex litigation in healthcare and drug and medical device product liability. He holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, and a BA from Vanderbilt University itself.

Dr. Schwartz oversees quality, patient safety, regulatory readiness, and medical staff services. Under his leadership, Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis earned the prestigious Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center certification from The Joint Commission. Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis and Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett received the distinction of being Accredited Chest Pain Centers from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, and have garnered disease-specific certifications for hip, knee and stroke from the Joint Commission. He earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at the College of Osteopathic Medicine Residency at Tucson Medical Center. Before assuming his role at Saint Francis Healthcare, Schwartz was in a variety of administrative roles with Sentara Health System based in Woodbridge, Virginia and Vanguard Health Systems in Nashville.
