He is Professor Emeritus of Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) and recently retired as Assistant Chief of Surgery and General and Hepato-pancreatobiliary Surgeon at the Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Vera was a transplant surgeon at UT/ Methodist Transplant Institute in Memphis from 1982-2008. A graduate of the Central University of Venezuela Medical School, he completed his Surgery Residency and Transplantation fellowship at UTHSC.

Vest started his career with Baptist as senior physician developer. He was named the executive director of acquisitions and business development in 2010 and was responsible for Baptist’s acquisition of physician practices and recruitment of Baptist Medical Group physicians. As BMG grew, Vest helped new BMG doctors and physician groups transition into a cohesive unit. Vest was promoted to BMG chief operating officer in 2013. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining Baptist, Vest practiced law as both a transactional attorney and a litigator. Vest is the former president of the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Hospital-Owned Physician Practice Executives of Tennessee.

Ron.wachsman@ Wachsman, BMHC’s vice president of revenue cycle since July 2018, has extensive experience and expertise in managing the capture, collection and generation of revenue for large health care systems. From 2017–2018, he was the senior vice president of revenue cycle for Prospect Medical Holdings East in Springfield, Pennsylvania, and from 2013–2016, he was the senior vice president of revenue cycle/chief revenue officer for Memorial Hermann Health System, the largest not-for-profit health system in southeast Texas. Wachsman began his finance health care career with ProMedica Health System Inc. in Toledo, Ohio. During his time with ProMedica, Wachsman held a number of progressive reimbursement, managed care and revenue cycle positions, including the senior vice president of managed care, reimbursement and revenue cycle from 2005-2013. Wachsman earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio.

He has more than 35 years of professional experience in healthcare finance. He is a member of the Health Financial Management Association and serves on the Tennessee Hospital Association Solutions Group. Wagers was the recipient of the 2012 CEO of the Year Award from the Memphis Business Journal and is a graduate of Leadership Memphis.
