Urgent Care for Children Completes Round of Funding Urgent Care for Children (UC4C), a physician-owned pediatric urgent care provider, has completed a multi-million dollar round of Series A financing from McKinney Capital and Timberline Holdings. The funding will support Urgent Care for Children’s continued growth throughout the southern United States. “We founded Urgent Care for Children to provide convenient, quality care to Birmingham’s pediatric patients. Over the past two years, we have experienced tremendous growth and built a strong reputation, and this round of funding enables us to continue that momentum as we expand our footprint,” said Allury Arora, MD, Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Urgent Care for Children. Urgent Care for Children intends to utilize the funding to scale its operations by increasing clinic capacity and opening additional clinics, as well as investing in systems that will support the company’s corporate structure. UC4C has appointed J. Bannon Thorpe as CEO. Thorpe previously served as a Vice President at Regions Financial. J.T. Price, CEO of McKinney Capital, will join Urgent Care for Children’s Board of Directors and serve as an advisor to the clinic’s physician-led ownership team. Urgent Care for Children opened its first clinic, located on Highway 280, in 2017, and opened its Trussville location in 2018. Urgent Care for Children plans to open several additional clinic locations throughout the Birmingham metro and across the state of Alabama. The company runs Alabama’s first physician-owned and operated, and one of the state’s highest patient-rated, pediatric urgent care facilities. Urgent Care for Children’s team of pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners offer acute diagnostic and treatment care for children with non-life-threatening medical needs after-hours and on weekends, 365 days a year.

Medicaid Contracts Awarded to My Care Alabama The Alabama Medicaid Agency has awarded My Care Alabama (My Care), a Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama affiliate, contracts to serve 325,000 Medicaid eligible individuals in the northwest, east and central regions of the state, effective October 1, 2019. My Care was formed by Blue Cross to focus on serving Alabama’s Medicaid population. My Care submitted proposals to administer healthcare coordinating services under the Alabama Medicaid Agency’s new Alabama Coordinated Health Network (ACHN) program and was awarded the contracts under a competitive bid process. Medicaid’s ACHN is a new agency initiative intended to provide a delivery system that is flexible, more cost efficient, and focuses on patient outcomes. Under the new ACHN model, Alabama’s Medicaid recipients will receive enhanced care coordination services from a single entity. My Care’s mission is to make it easier for Medicaid recipients to manage their healthcare. Patient health outcomes will also improve through care coordination and working with the Medicaid recipient’s Multi-Disciplinary Care Team.
