Tim Puthoff Named CEO of Brookwood Baptist Health and Brookwood Baptist Medical Center Tim Puthoff has been named CEO of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center and Tenet’s Alabama and Tennessee Group, which consists of a network of seven hospitals. He will be responsible for overseeing all strategic, operational and clinical activities at Brookwood Tim Puthoff Baptist Medical Center, as well as providing leadership at all five hospitals in the Brookwood Baptist Health system and Tenet’s Tennessee hospital operations. For the past five years, Puthoff served as CEO of Houston Northwest Medical Center. Under his leadership, Houston Northwest saw significant growth, including increases in admissions, surgeries and ED visits. Throughout his tenure, the hospital excelled in quality and safety initiatives, including recognition as a Leapfrog A-rated facility, achievement of a Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and Texas Ten Step designation for maternity care and breastfeeding support. As well under Puthoff’s leadership, the hospital scored well above national averages in the AHRQ Culture of Patient Safety Survey.

Prior to joining Houston Northwest, Puthoff served in several CEO and executive leadership roles with Community Health Systems and HCA, including roles with multi-facility responsibility. Puthoff holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Central Florida.

Dhall Named Director of Pediatric HematologyOncology and Blood Marrow Transplantation Program Girish Dhall, MD has been named as division director for the HematologyOncology and Blood Marrow Transplantation program in the UAB Department of Pediatrics and Children’s of Alabama. Dhall is currently an associate professor of pediatrics and director Girish Dhall, MD of the Neuro-oncology Program at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and will join the department at the end of May 2019. Dhall has been at CHLA and on faculty at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California since 2007, when he completed his fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology. His clinical interests include caring for children and young adults with primary brain and spinal cord injuries. He is ded-

icated to improving the survival rate of young children with brain tumors without the use of high levels of radiation therapy. Dhall completed his fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at New York University Medical Center, residency in pediatrics at New York Medical College and medical school at Grant Medical College, Mumbai, India. He is a member of multiple professional societies including Histiocyte Society, American Society of Pediatric HematologyOncology, Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics, Society for Neuro-oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, International Society of Pediatric Oncology and the Society for Pediatric Research. He has successfully led many clinical trials and has been involved in leadership roles on various national committees, including the chairmanship of the Young Investigator’s Committee in Children’s Oncology Group. “I would like to thank everyone for welcoming Deepti and I to be a part of your UAB family,” Dhall said. “I am excited to be among such distinguished group of people. I really look forward to working with all of you and will strive to make Children’s of Alabama and UAB a top destination for children with complex hematologic and oncologic disorders.”

Yarbrough Joins Cullman Randy Yarbrough, MD has joined the Cullman Regional Gynecology Clinic. Yarbrough is a robotic-trained, board certified gynecologist. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama, the University of Alabama School Of Medicine and completed his residency Randy at Vanderbilt University Yarbrough, MD Medical Center. Yarbrough treats a wide variety of gynecologic conditions, and has served patients in in Alabama for more than 30 years.

Ground Breaking for Vestavia Medical Plaza

Congressman Gary Palmer, Vestavia Hills Mayor Ashley Curry, State Senator Jabo Waggoner and Dr. Bret Walters of Homewood Church of Christ joined Swaid N. Swaid, MD this week to break ground on Vestavia Medical Plaza which will be located on Old Montgomery Highway. Vestavia Medical Plaza will be a 40,000 square foot multi-specialty medical plaza with an ambulatory surgery center, diagnostic center and clinical space. Brasfield & Gorrie will serve as general contractor. The plaza is being developed by Practice Partners, and Evan Terry Associates is the architect. Construction begins this month with completion projected for fall 2019.
