Merilyn Mangum: My Story Hi, I'm Merilyn Mangum. I moved to Memphis from McLean, Virginia, with my son, Christopher, in 1994. We had been a member of an Episcopal Church in McLean and so of course we wanted to find an Episcopal Church here and a family and Grace-St. Luke's is my family... I firmly believe that you get out of something what you put into it. We have to give our time, our talent and our resources. We have lots of opportunity to give our time and our talent, but sometimes its harder to give our resources. And we need to do that to the extent that we can. Grand Old Bazaar, TOMORROW, Saturday Nov. 16 Join us for the Grand Old Bazaar, Saturday, Nov. 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Trezevant Hall and get a head start on your holiday shopping! A delicious lunch will also be served for $7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. On sale will be elegant handmade items for all ages, books, baked and canned goods, artwork, handmade & costume jewelry, and treasures galore! Volunteers Needed For More Than A Meal This Sunday, Nov. 17 Looking for a way to serve? Our More Than a Meal ministry needs YOU this Sunday! No prior experience or special training required. All you need are willing hands and an open heart! Come to Trezevant Hall this Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and help prepare for our Sunday lunch guests - those in need of a good meal. Guests range from senior citizens with limited incomes to our brothers and sisters who live in shelters or on the street. Come and help set up, serve meals, be a hospitable presence or clean up. EYC News —Biscuits & Bible Study— 6th-8th grade Bible Study Wed. morning, 6:45-7:45 a.m., in the EYC space (an earlier pick-up time is available). —Teen Time Breakfast, Nov. 17—All teens are invited to sit at a special table for breakfast. Bring $5 for a heaping plate of yumminess. —Human Barometer, Nov. 17— Curious? Come check out EYC for an activity sure to get everyone talking. Third Thursday, Nov. 21 "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" Come to the Nov. 21 gathering of the Third Thursday "empty nester" group to hear Keith Wood (a talented orator) share intriguing facts and stories about the man behind these words, Patrick Henry, a most interesting Founding Father. Annual Parish Meeting and Vestry Elections, Nov. 24 Please attend the annual meeting on Sunday, Nov. 24! In accordance with parish by-laws, your Vestry Nominating Committee is composed of members who will rotate off the vestry in December. Members include: Ginger Collier, Stinson Liles, Catherine Morehead, Linda Niell, Pete Shearon, Doug Smith, and Nicki Soulé. Thanksgiving Eucharist, Nov. 28 Join us Thanksgiving morning as we worship together and give thanks for all of our many blessings. Thanksgiving Day also marks our "birthday" at GSL. Grace and St. Luke's churches joined for their first combined service on Thanksgiving Day, 1940. Let's celebrate!!
