CARDBOARD WORKSPACE
The objective was to create a work space at our studio desks out of cardboard. This was a group project of 4 people. We started off our reseach with ideas of the sky and architecture above one’s head such as trellises or light wells. We found many ideas of trellises with greenery or lights hanging from it.

We also looked into how a city lights up at night, and we decided that we wanted to explore the city lights in aerial view as a formal concept. As a group, we started sketching, our idea transformed from tree form into a canopy form.
Process
For the final product we made cardboard tubes attatched to larger boards of cardboard with fasteners and attached to each other using notches in the long boards. It was hung up to a metal rail using fishing wire.
The final outcome gave us an enclosed space to work in, under which it had a feeling of being cozy and protected. It gave a more gradual effect of being exposed to the open space It played with the light, and the different heights allowed for a sense of depth.
