The LORD has done great things for us, and we are glad. – Psalm 126:3
A Call to Give Thanks 1 Chronicles 16:8-9; 35; 34; 36 Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather and deliver us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! “Let Us with a Gladsome Mind
Prayer of Adoration Psalter Reading: Psalm 136
Prayer of Confession Gracious Heavenly Father, you are so kind to us in giving us everything that we need for life and salvation in Jesus Christ. Out of your abundance you give us food to eat, clothes to wear, roofs over our heads, and even more than that, you give us an eternal inheritance with the saints in light. Forgive us for forgetting to praise you for your loving-kindness. Forgive us for not being grateful for such blessings as we should. Forgive us when we are not content with your provisions. Forgive us for complaining. Forgive us for not responding to your generosity by being generous to others. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us, and through your Holy Spirit, help us to delight in your provisions and walk in gratitude. For what we have received, Lord, make us truly thankful. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen. Assurance of Pardon Colossians 1:11-14; Psalm 30:11-12 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever! Psalm of Response: Psalm 111
Season of Giving Thanks through Testimony and Song Scripture Reading “The Goodness of God”
Psalm 106:1-5; 47-48 Pastor Calvin Keller
Season of Prayer Individual Prayer Closing Prayer Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life – including the trials you bring us that teach us to trust in you more and more. Most of all, we thank you for the saving knowledge of your Son, our Savior; for the living presence of your Holy Spirit, the Comforter; for your Church, the Body of Christ, for the communion of the saints, for all your means of grace, and for the hope of glory. O that you would give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated unto you; and then use us, we pray, as you will, and always to your glory and the welfare of your people, through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen. Parting Exhortation May thanksgiving be more than a special day of the year; may it be for us a way of life. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. “Now Thank We All Our God”
