GLOBAL CHANGE FRAMEWORK

Course objective By the end of this course participants have acquired in-depth knowledge of the concepts of youth participation, democracy, and governance. Participants will furthermore gain knowledge of human rights, particularly the rights of ordinary people to participate in decision making processes and to demand accountability in communities and countries at large. The course moreover provides skills to critically assess leadership and tools to influence decision makers in matters of concern.

Understanding the basic concepts of youth, participation, governance, and accountability. Introduction to the connection between human rights and governance. Governance and social change. Understanding democracy in relation to human rights. Introduction to Human Rights-Based Approaches. The interplay between youth participation and social change. Knowledge and skills to lead youth groups. Facilitation techniques. Strategies for collective community action. Analysing power relations in governance.
