Course objective By the end of this course participants will have acquired skills and knowledge about Human Rights-Based Approaches and how to mainstream human rights in day to day activities. Participants will be confident in holding the state accountable as a primary duty bearer in protecting human rights.

Introduction to human rights, key concepts, and rights based thinking. Mainstreaming human rights in civil society activities. Linkages between human rights and development. Linkages between human rights and poverty. Participatory techniques for empowerment.

Target group Practitioners working in civil society organisations, senior and middle management, programme staff in development and donor agencies as well as parliamentarians and government staff at central and local levels

Duration 1 week Schedule This course is offered 4 times in 2013 14th – 18th January 1st – 5th April 20th – 24th May 28th October – 1st November Tuition fee 200 USD (fee and full accommodation) or 110 USD (including fee and lunch)
