A pegada começa pela iluminação do terceiro piso. Uma clarabóia contínua de cem metros fornece luz natural abundante, bem como vista para o terraço. Na entrada da expansão, uma parede de vidro enquadra uma praça e a paisagem que a circunda, desfocando a linha entre o interior e o exterior do mall. “Nossa visão é criar uma experiência enriquecedora tanto em ambientes fechados quanto em lugares abertos, que provoquem os sentidos, estimulem a conversa e abraçem a natureza”, afirma Jackie Soffer, co-presidente e CEO da Turnberry Associates, grupo proprietário do Aventura Mall. A nova ala está sendo construída no lado leste da propriedade, perto da Macy’s. Ainda não foram divulgados os empreendimentos que habitarão o Aventura, que é um dos shoppings mais visitados dos Estados Unidos. O mall também é conhecido pela variedade de estabelecimentos que abriga, que vai de lojas de departamento, como Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom e Macy’s, a de luxo: Givenchy, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Fendi, Burberry, Bally, Emilio Pucci, Omega and Brooks Brothers. Outras com forte apelo de venda são Apple, Michael Kors, H&M, Tory Burch, Sam Edelman, Microsoft Store, Urban Outfitters. O design foi incorporado ao ambiente com várias instalações artísticas: o Aventura Slide Tower, de 28,3 metros de altura, por Carsten Höller; o Gorillas in the Mist, pelos Irmãos Haas; o Veiled in a Dream, por Wendell Castle; e uma grande escultura do artista Mark Handforth. Essa é a terceira expansão do mall, inaugurado em 1983. As duas anteriores se deram em 1997 e 2008. Especula-se que o Aventura se prepara para manter-se à altura dos concorrentes. Dentre eles, o American Dream, que está sendo construído na região noroeste de Miami, e o luxuoso Bal Harbour Shops, que também planeja ser ampliado em breve. We all know Miami has many attractions, but it is nearly impossible leaving the city without going shopping for one day at least. Thus, of course the city investors are giving special attention for this business industry. That is why many expansions on this business are expected. The biggest shopping mall of the State of Florida, the Aventura Mall, is getting ready to become even bigger. The mall with two square kilometers is about to receive one more floor with more than 315 thousand square meters, in addition to a external garage, all done with a USD213,5 million investment. The expansion was announced last October and should be finished up to late 2017. About 50 shops and restaurants will be added up to the existent 300 shops at the mall. The following features will be created: a roof terrace, a food court with both open and closed areas, as well as a VIP lounge for events and dinner parties, dedicated to selected costumers from some luxurious shops.

Miami’s lifestyle is the main inspiration for the project of the new floor, signed by the architect Carlos Zapata, together with JPRA Architects. The idea is to gather some characteristics for which the South of Florida is known. Three main points have been focused in the floor plan conception: transparence, connectivity and integration between the interior and the exterior. The idea is to create an inviting exchange between indoor and outdoor spaces. The thing starts with the third floor lightning. A continuous hundred meterskylight provides natural light, as well as a view to the roof terrace. In the entrance of the expanded area, a wall made of glass frames a square and the landscape surrounding it, defocusing the line between the interior and the exterior of the mall. “Our point of view is to create a meaningful experience both in indoor and outdoor ambiences, that provoke the senses, stimulate conversations and embrace nature”, claims Jackie Soffer, co-president and CEO at Turnberry Associates, the group that owns the Aventura Mall. The new floor is been built at the east side of the property, next to Macy’s. The enterprises that will occupy the Aventura mall, one of the most visited malls in the USA, have not been revealed yet. The mall is also known by its huge variety of shops, which includes department stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom e Macy’s, as well as fancy stores: Givenchy, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Fendi, Burberry, Bally, Emilio Pucci, Omega and Brooks Brothers. Others big selling stores are Apple, Michael Kors, H&M, Tory Burch, Sam Edelman, Microsoft Store, and Urban Outfitters.

The design has been incorporated to the ambience by many artistic implementations. The Aventura Slide Tower with 28.3 metersof height by Carsten Höller; the Gorillas in the Mist by the Haas brothers, the Veiled in a Dream by Wendell Castle, and a big sculpture by the artist Mark Handforth. This is the third expansion of the mall, open in 1983. The previous expansions happened in 1997 and 2008. It is believed that the Aventura is getting ready to keep up to its rivals. Among them there is the American Dream, which is currently being built in the northwest region of Miami, and also the luxurious Bal Harbour Shops, which expansion is being planned to happen soon.
