Have you ever dreamed about covering the distance between Miami and Orlando in just three hours? A charming and fun express train service will connect the shopping paradise to Mickey’s land. The trip, which offers beautiful scenery, wifi, comfort, snacks and drinks is a dream-come-true for those who dread traffic jams, stress and fatigue. This will be the reality of both tourists and residents from 2017 on, when the Brightline passenger train is scheduled to launch its services. The train line will cover the 376 km that separate two of the busiest and most popular Florida cities. With stops on Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, the trip will be one hour faster than if made by car. The project will build new tracks along State Road 528 between Cocoa and Orlando, with improvements to be made to the Florida East Coast Railway corridor between Miami and Cocoa. The restoration includes new modern technologies such as new signal systems, upgraded crossings, double tracking and other improvements. When the train starts to run, it will be the first time since the 60’s that a passenger train will cross Eastern Florida, a route travelled originally by pioneer Henry Flagler in the late 19th century.
