EXCITING NEWS!
We launched True North, our new employee engagement program aimed at recognizing your outstanding efforts and contributions. Our first challenge for March was practice-focused and we enjoyed the submissions of Mission/Vision Statements that many of you provided. Those are featured on the preceeding three pages here in our April newsletter along with our next exciting challenge.
Individual team member points have been recorded and can be checked here.
Something to keep in mind, you can cash in your points at any time to receive a gift through Snappy. Snappy offers unique gifts up to $5,000. I would recommend letting points accumulate before cashing in.
Additionally, we are expanding True North to include local level employee recognition. Office managers will be provided with 4 True North submissions to recognize employee excellence on a quarterly basis. True North winners will receive 100 points along with bragging rights for the entire quarter. Q1 winners will be announced in the coming weeks. Criteria for winning this award is at the sole discretion of the practice’s leaders. Many of you may already have recognition programs, where True North could be incorporated, and if you don’t, feel free to get creative. Office managers, directions for submissions along with a few extra surprises will be shared with you later this month.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or just want to share your True North adventures, feel free to reach out to Makayla Ullrich at mullrich@gps.dental. Let’s embark on this journey together!

More Exciting News & Numbers from February’s IPD Event
Last month, we provided a snapshot of the event’s success through data provided to our team, showcasing the number of cases closed “day of”. However, as many of you know, the true impact of such events extends far beyond immediate results and requires a closer look at the bigger picture.
How exciting is it to be able to share that our reporting last month didn’t fully capture the magnitude of success achieved by the offices that participated in this event. Without further ado, we are thrilled to announce the total number of cases closed were as follows:
• WICHITA FAMILY DENTAL GROUP – 41
• PROSPER FAMILY DENTISTRY – 32
TOTAL
137 patients started a new journey to Loving their Smile!
• LIFETIME DENTAL CARE – 18
• BALCONES FAMILY DENTAL – 10
• BOLT FAMILY DENTAL – 10
• SANGO FAMILY DENTISTRY – 9
• ADC DENTAL GROUP – 9
• MAIN STREET DENTAL – 8
We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jill Sentlingar and her dedicated team at Prosper Family Dentistry. Dr. Jill’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding our GPS community through this journey. From hosting our first Invisalign Webinar last September, offering valuable insights and tips, to collaborating closely with the GPS Marketing team on the event theme and planning, her contributions have been invaluable.
Dr. Jill, your passion, professionalism, and commitment to not only your patients but also to your team have been nothing short of inspiring. It is partners like you who embody the essence of what makes GPS Dental so special to be a part of.
Congrats again to Dr. Jeff Lowe and the team at Lifetime Dental Care for winning the GPS Competition with the most individual doctor case starts. We are so proud of each and every one of you for your remarkable success across all participating locations, and we are already looking forward to planning the next one! ❤

Q: Why are my federal tax deductions so low?
Demystifying the 2020 W-4
In 2020, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) introduced a revamped Form W-4, the Employee’s Withholding Certificate, which brought significant changes to the way income tax is withheld from employees’ paychecks. Among the notable updates was the inclusion of a dedicated section for those with multiple jobs, or those filing jointly with a spouse that also works, known as the Multiple Job Worksheet, addressing the complexities faced by individuals juggling more than one source of income.
The previous versions of the W-4 relied heavily on the concept of withholding allowances. Employees used to claim a certain number of allowances based on their personal and financial situations, such as marital status, dependents, and anticipated deductions. These allowances were then used by employers to calculate the amount of federal income tax to withhold from employees’ paychecks.
The 2020 W-4, however, reflects a departure from this system. Instead of claiming allowances, employees are now required to provide more detailed information about their income sources, filing status, dependents, and other relevant factors. You may be asking yourself, 2020 was 4 years ago, why is this just now affecting me? The answer is that many employers did not update their W-4s OR you started before 2020 and the old W-4 was used.
One area worth pointing out that seems to be a major source of confusion for our GPS staff (including myself) is the Multiple Jobs Worksheet. If you believe that too little federal income tax is being deducted from your paychecks, this may be the source of your problem.
For individuals with multiple jobs or those who are married filing jointly with a working spouse, the Multiple Job Worksheet becomes particularly relevant. It helps to more accurately calculate the total withholding needed across all jobs, considering the combined income. More details can be found on the form at: www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf
If you wish to revisit your answer to this particular question, navigate to the Tax Setup in your Paycom account and read Step 2.
By understanding and utilizing this worksheet effectively, individuals can ensure that their tax withholding aligns with their overall tax liability, providing greater financial stability throughout the year.
Disclaimer: GPS is not a tax advisor. This is for informational purposes only and should not be relied on for tax advice. Please consult your tax advisor prior to making any changes to your withholdings.
